Interview with Luisa Martini, owner of Casa Al Castello: An Example of Eco-sustainability in the Heart of Tuscany
In the heart of the medieval village of Arcidosso, under the imposing castle, is Casa Al Castello, a recently renovated structure that perfectly embodies the idea of eco-sustainable tourism and is among the nominated to the Ecobnb Awards.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Luisa Martini, the owner, who told us how her passion for environmental sustainability and the exploitation of local resources gave life to her beautiful eco-friendly holiday home. Read the interview!

What was the spark that ignited your passion for environmental sustainability?
I have always behaved sustainably, both at home and in the family. For me, it is natural to pay attention to the environment, choose natural products, and reduce waste. This was the starting point for applying the same principles to the accommodation structure.

What aspects do you consider fundamental in your eco-sustainability journey?
The main features are the separate collection, the use of simple and natural detergents, and the elimination of the consumption of disposable products. We also chose to use electric stoves and heat the house with a pellet system, which is more environmentally friendly and efficient.

How would you describe your ideal “eco-traveler” host?
The ideal eco-traveler respects the rules described and the environment, acting as a tourist or conscious traveler. He is a person who appreciates simplicity, and tranquility, and who knows how to live in harmony with the territory.

What is the most significant review you have received and what made it special?
The review that most gratified me was when he spoke of the house’s simplicity and ‘basicity‘. Our guests appreciate the fact that the house is not too sophisticated, but that it offers everything you need in a natural and quiet environment.

Let’s dispel together the myth that eco-sustainability is necessarily more expensive. According to you, “Ecological” can also be “Economic”?
Absolutely, ecological can also be economical, especially if you choose seasonal, local and natural foods. Homemade detergents, for example, are an economical and environmentally friendly alternative. Slow tourism, which favors quality and authenticity rather than consumerism, also reduces costs and respects the environment.

Which green initiatives have given you the greatest satisfaction? What have been the most appreciated by your guests?
One of the initiatives that gave us greater satisfaction was the use of natural materials for the renovation of the house, such as lime painting. This has improved the comfort and health of the rooms, without compromising the aesthetic appearance. Guests also appreciate the relaxing and natural atmosphere of the house.
How do the values and projects of Ecobnb resonate with those of your structure?
Ecobnb reflects from its inception what I wanted to offer with my accommodation: a stay experience that respects the environment, promotes sustainable tourism and enhances local traditions. It is an excellent platform for those who, like us, want to promote a more conscious and responsible tourism.

Casa Al Castello is not only a peaceful retreat in the heart of Tuscany but a concrete example of how eco-sustainability can be harmoniously integrated with the comfort and beauty of an ancient residence. Thanks to the vision of Luisa Martini, guests can live a unique experience, immersed in an environment that respects nature, promotes local culture, and promotes conscious tourism.
If you are looking for a place where you can experience the true essence of Tuscany, respecting the environment and enjoying an authentic welcome, Casa Al Castello is the perfect choice.
