Global biodiversity is as essential as at risk, a cause of human ctivities that in recent decades has led to an increasingly dramatic loss. Yet in this increasingly polluted world there are those committed to protecting biodiversity with concrete projects, supporting the development of habitats and species. Even among those involved in tourism. We have found 10 accommodations where it is possible to live and understand biodiversity, among breathtaking natural landscapes and local produces.
In the Cilento natural park
Our journey to discover the places where biodiversity is protected starts in a few kilometers from Paestum and the sea of Cilento, where we find Il Cannito, a beautiful eco-sustainable resort whose buildings are in stone, renovated according to the principles of green-architecture in symbiosis with the surrounding environment. The farm cultivates what the biodiversity of the area offers, respecting the seasonal nature and without using fertilizers and pesticides, for absolutely organic and healthy produces.
At the center of the Lucano Appennino National Park
We move to Basilicata with there is Il Querceto, an agritourism company committed to safeguarding biodiversity for almost ten years. It does so by cultivating traditional varieties of soft and hard wheats, ancient fruit trees that risk disappearing and through the oak forest that laps the farm. Here, just a few steps from the magical Matera and the suggestive peaks of the Apennines, you can spend a natural holiday, enjoying nature and tasting the flavors of traditional Lucan cuisine.

Precisely for this reason the Obelisk Farm has decided to cultivate this plant, in an uncontaminated environment and surrounded by woods and gardens of aromatic herbs. The farm offers private rooms and spaces for camping, as well as workshops and cooking tastings, construction with cannabis courses, volunteer experiences and spaces for retreats of musicians and writers.

In Liguria, between the scent of basil and the sea, there’s Campo di Luna. It is an incredible sustainable farm where you live in complete harmony with nature and the woods that surround the accommodation, where there are roe deer, foxes, squirrels, badgers and many birds including the buzzards. We move in the heart of the High Salento, in a land sometimes wild where olive trees, sand dunes, Mediterranean scrub and pristine sea follow each other. Here, where there is no shortage of routes to cycle, there is Mater, a restored farmhouse of the 50s, preserving the original features that offers the opportunity to experience an ecological and educational holiday, to discover the biodiversity of Apulia. You can taste the organic products of the farm, such as the small fiaschetto tomato, Brindini’s artichoke and the oil, which are born in an environment based on diversification and harmonious integration of productive, residential, educational and cultural activities.
