Expo 2015 in Milan: where to go and what to do?

We all know that, starting May the 1st, Milan is hosting for six months the Universal Exhibition Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life as its central theme.

But what are our suggestions for a tour of the exhibition and a trip to Milan that is 100% ecofriendly?

Discover our offers to travel to Milan in harmony with nature and to take part to the global event of Expo.

Milan offers several opportunities for an eco-friendly stay. For example, you can stay very close to the Duomo, in the beautiful Ostello Bello hoste, in the B&B D’Èco, or at the door of the city in the Cascina Santa Brera Organic Farm, where you can taste also a special cousine.

The milanese metropolis is not the grey city of the collective imagination, and opportunities for eco-travelers are countless. First of all, the town offers sustainable mobility: you can walk in the town centre, or choose to bike and rent it through the service of bike sharing BikeMI, or move with public transportations.

Even the Expo is reachable with green transportations: the subway route 1, the train all the way to Rho Fiera Milano station, the bike through the path Raggio Verde 7, among the city green.

To rest from the frenzy of the Universal Exhibition, there is nothing better than one of the green lung of the city: the Park Sempione, behind the wonderful Sforza Castle.

Other mandatory stops for all of us eco-travelers are the Rural Park South Milan, where there are many and very interesting activities, and the botanical museum.

Among the works done for the Expo, the Waterways deserve a special mention: cycling paths and green routes along the drains and through the parks in the north and in the west, reaching as far as the Ticino river and Lake Maggiore on one side, and up to the Villa and Royal Park of Monza on the other.

One of the goals of Expo 2015 is to make people think about new ways of sustainability both for the territory and the communities that live in it, starting from food and from the issues related to it.

Can you think of better occasion to plan a responsible travel, leaving by train, moving around by foot or bike, and choosing an eco-friendly accommodation?

And you, when are you going to Expo Milano 2015?
