Among the paths that lead from the town of Sersale to Valli Cupe Canyon there's one that runs along the ancient village of Marcaglione, now abandoned but once a small settlement of local shepherds who cultivated the land around

It's called Marcaglione and comes from "Ionian brand" name of Norman origin. The first part of the path that leads to the ancient village follows in the riverbed Liver which generated over time the Canyon of Valli Cupe. At one point, the trail begins to climb along a dirt road characterized by a varied Maquis shrubland composed of wild olive, mastic, strawberry, wild heather and myrtle.

Reached the hill, on which stand the remains of the ancient village, you can admire a beautiful view of the Ionian coast. The village, once tied to the events of brigandage, present the outline of a tower around which is not difficult to see the numerous raptors living in the Canyon walls.
