Name of ”Kamena gora” Stone Hill is a derivation of the word, in the true sense of the word, a hill on the stone. The village is from Prijepolje around 20 kilometers and monasteries Miles endowment of King Stefan Vladislav (1234-1243). And the famous White Angel that adorns the walls of this magnificent Serbian sanctities from time of the reign of Nemanjić kingdom. The area of the local community Stone Hill at an altitude of 800 m to 1496 m where the tallest peak Ravna Gora, which is almost flush with the black top on the other side.
Stone Hill spreads protected area to the border with Montenegro, ie. the municipalities of Pljevlja and Bijelo Polje to the east. Stone Hill area has rich flora and fauna, forests and clear forest sources that have at every step, over a hundred registered, strong and rich water sources that never run dry.
Part of the village Stone Hill is covered with dense coniferous forest and is covered with hills, meadows, hills, small valleys, which make a real charm for tourists. Possible outs are living up to the mountain top, the Black peak to Petljanskih caves on the plateau above the village Kamenogorsk groups. Caves are rich in amazing examples of stalactites and stalagmites at an altitude from 1140 to 1150.
Kamena Gora is a small mountain village at about 1400 m above sea level, declared as the landscape of exceptional features, rich with flora and fauna, conifer forests, numerous springs. Staying in “kućeri” - reconstructed wooden shepherd's houses from the beginning of 20th century will complement your experience on this tour.
The protected area covers the gorge and meanders of the river Uvac and its tributaries, the river Veljušnica, Kladnica and Tisovica. It is located in southwest Serbia and covers a territory of 7543 hectares in the municipality of Nova Varoš and a part of the municipality of Sjenica. Besides the gorge, the area covered includes the lakes Uvačko, Zlatarsko and Radoinjsko.
The itinerary of the tour consists of (with transfers and rafting preparation):
- 1.5h transfer by minibus from Kamena Gora to the point where rafting tour starts (crossing the border in Montenegro)
- 45 min rafting preparation with visiting monastery Kumanica
- 2-3.5h rafting on Lim River, depending on water level (in May and June usually about 2h-2.5h, in July and August about 3h)
- 1h transfer from Brodarevo back to Kamena Gora - A lunch in the center of the village, konak “Bor” (shelter “Pine”), traditional food from that part of Serbia - After a lunch hiking tour in Kamena Gora 2h
You will visit a special nature reserve -Uvac canyon. During the boat ride of Uvac Lake, and observe Griffon vulture - vulture species, with a wingspan of up to 3 meters. Hiking tour in the canyon and viewpoint Molitva (a prayer), with a view to the meanders of height and up to 100 m, will leave you breathless.
You will experience a real adrenalin rafting adventure with the length of about 20 km through the most beautiful part of Lim valley. We will pass and overcome together several exciting rapids.
The Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus) presents a special value of this area, with a significant colony which is the largest on the Balkans. Griffon Vulture Gyps fulvus, the Griffon Vultures have a colony on the Balkans and the only one is in the special Nature Reserve Uvac. This species of vultures has an impressive size. It has a special role in the food chain – it feeds on dead animals, thus preventing the spread of diseases and in this way cleans the ecosystem.
The special nature reserve "Uvac“, a natural protected area of great importance, ie. Natural resource of the first category is put under protection primarily to preserve and multiply the Griffon Vulture, the largest bird living in Serbia. The reserve consists of intact habitats, the presence of endemic, relict and endangered plant and animal species, that are of a particular importance for biodiversity and geodiversity, and therefore for the development and promotion of potential tourist reserves.
On the top of the Molitva viewpoint you are going to enjoy to the beautiful view on the Uvac canyon and its meanders.
