  • Our Advice: The Calabrian Serre are the wettest area of the region, therefore it is good to always have a raincoats.

The route starts from the Wood of Stilo, where there's, the summer residence of King Ferdinand II of Bourbon, who, since 1832, used it as a hunting ground. Later here one of the most important steel poles Southern Italy was built and the ironworks, the barracks, residential buildings and stables were built.

The path leading to Marmarico Waterfall (the name comes from a word of dialectical origin which means "slow" or "heavy", because the impression that one gets from watching this cascade is that the water, although in constant fall, look still) is a branch of the Italy Path. It's a downhill route that covers a vertical drop of 400 meters and that pass through very important industrial archeology, with lush natural vegetation consists of White fir, beech, pine and larch Holly and very suggestive panoramic views.

In the middle of the route ia window from which you can admire the waterfall in all its entirety opens. It is the highest waterfall in Southern Italy, about 100 meters, and it consists of three spectacular jumps. In the last and largest of its pools, among huge boulders, during the summer months you can enjoy a cool refreshing bath, while in the upper ones reachable through a small path that climbs the mountain ridge that rises on the left of the waterfall, you can live the experience of a natural massage shower.
