History

The itinerary has an intrinsic value, as it is a connection between the two municipalities of Calceranica and Vigolana, and above all of the exchange, including tourism; a very important link between the shores of the lake and the plateau.

The path was in fact connected to the mining activity of Calceranica, which has very ancient historical origins. The last mining activities in the area date back to the near 1964, with the exhaustion of the pyrite and from 2008 the Municipality, together with the Albatros society and the Natural Science Museum of Trento, gave life to the Mining Park and the recovery of the 100 steps is to it connected.

However, the path has not only a strong tourist value but also a social one: the intervention was in fact carried out in just over a year by a team of the Provincial Employment Support Service.

The intervened technicians explained that the workers took care of the recovery and cleaning of the Laite path and the many dry stone walls characteristic of the terraces that once covered the slopes of the Mandola valley; metal parapets were then placed with steel cords to ensure safety and finally recovered the monumental staircase.
