Following an earthquake in 1456 the new Campobasso was redesigned with a defensive structure, with walls and with the existing underground interconnected.
A web of narrow tunnels, a network allowing seamless communication between the various parts of the city. Some features allow you to quickly move from one tower to another of the city walls.
Beautiful, for green addicted, the eighteenth-century town park "De Capoa", one of the most charming places of the city. The main entrance overlooks Savoia Square and includes studded avenues bordered by hedges of evergreen trees, in an ancient mosaic.

2. The Massif of Matese and surrounding
Molise is surrounded by beautiful nature that embraces many countries, with landscape ranging from the sea, to the high mountains of the Massif of Matese, to the hills of central Molise.
In the province visit Bojano, Larino and Termoli. All other countries combines the classic charm of Italian villages: castles, churches, fortresses. Not only mountains but also the sea, nature, hospitality and traditions.
To make the surroundings even more beautiful thera are small villages and slave and Albanians ethnic minorities, which bring with them intact language, customs, traditions and culture.
Termoli is the most famous little city for its sea but do not forget to visit Campomarino, Montenero and Petacciato, a nature reserve on the coast offer in custody to the tourist.
Among the many beautiful towns we still remember Guglionesi, in the center of the Lower Molise, built on a hill that descends until it reaches the Biferno river.
Really pretty the historic center, with squares, porches and houses of local stone; not too far from this village you can admire the "flower-filled terrace Molise" by the King of Naples, Ferdinand of Bourbon, who in 1838 visited these places.
3. Tastes and local food
In many restaurants you can enjoy seafood and mountain, which do not forget country products, vegetables and fruit.
In the restaurants and during festivals sparkling traditional dishes linked to the farming tradition dominates: pork meat, milk, cheese, oil and wine.
Excellent truffles, mushrooms and seasonal vegetables from the garden.
Among the main dishes we recommend the various homemade pastas, with mysterious names: the 'nnoje, the friscatille, Cuzze and fugne, Cuzze and foje,' to crugnalette arracanate, 'u gallùcce arrechjne, the melegname dry and sweet ... grcke.
They are actually very simple dishes: cavatelli with turnip, cavatelli with mushrooms, flour patties, stuffed guts, chicken and omelettes.
