Explore the caves of Onferno

A small stream that makes its way between the rock and that with its strength creates an unusual and evocative place. A few kilometers from the coast of Romagna, in the hinterland of the Valconca, are the Caves of Onferno, a perfect destination for those who want to experience the thrill of an underground adventure. We descend for 1350 meters to admire, in a speleological visit that lasts about 90 minutes, chalk formations, a huge colony of bats and all the caves.

Among the many paths that wind through the green Romagna I recommend this incredible itinerary of just over 6 kilometers, to be done on foot in about 3 hours. The route, starting from the square of Savignano di Rigo and through beautiful views, allows you to reach a multi-secular hazel tree, 25.30 m high and with a circumference of 3.62 m.

A dip in the green of the Montetiffi Oasis


Between the Savio and Marecchia rivers you will find the Montetiffi Community Interest Site. Here you can walk in the middle of nature among the hilly landscapes, the woods and the prairie. Among the laws and the maples, the wild lime trees and the red juniper you can spot porcupines, polecats, green peaks and who knows… maybe even a wolf.
