Fora Pansiyon

Fora Pansiyon is a small, family-run guesthouse set on the green slopes of Ayder, surrounded by the forests, valleys and high mountains of the Kaçkar range. More than simply a place to sleep, Fora is a place where guests can experience the landscape, flavours and hospitality of the Eastern Black Sea region in a personal and authentic way.

Our connection to Ayder and the surrounding mountains is part of everyday life here. We aim to preserve the character of traditional local hospitality: welcoming guests personally, sharing knowledge of the region and offering a slower, more genuine alternative to large and standardised hotels. The atmosphere is informal and warm, with the feeling of staying in a mountain home rather than an anonymous accommodation.

The guesthouse reflects the traditional character of the Hemsin region, with its wooden architecture and hillside setting. From the rooms and common areas, guests can look across the forest-covered valley and surrounding mountains, often waking to mist moving slowly between the green slopes. The peaceful location allows visitors to experience the changing moods of the Kaçkar landscape throughout the day.

Food is an important part of the Fora experience. Our kitchen focuses on simple, generous and home-style Hemsin-Laz and Black Sea cooking, prepared with the spirit of local family cuisine rather than a standard hotel menu. Whenever possible, we favour regional ingredients, seasonal products and flavours familiar to the kitchens of this part of Rize. Breakfast is prepared each morning, and guests have the opportunity to discover the tastes and food traditions of the region as part of their stay.

Supporting and keeping local culture alive is important to us. We believe tourism should not separate visitors from the destination, but bring them closer to it. We therefore encourage our guests to discover local foods, mountain villages, yaylas, traditional ways of life and the natural environment surrounding Ayder. By remaining a small family business and working within the local community, we aim to ensure that tourism contributes to the people and culture of the region.

Fora is especially well suited to travellers who come to Ayder for nature and outdoor experiences. The guesthouse is an excellent base for exploring the Kaçkar Mountains and the highland routes around Kavron, Avusor, Huser and the upper valleys. Hiking trails, alpine lakes, mountain meadows and traditional yaylas can all be reached from the wider Ayder area. We are happy to share local knowledge and practical advice about routes, weather and places worth discovering.

Our hillside location is part of Fora's character. The final approach to the guesthouse is along a short footpath rather than directly by car, allowing the property to remain closely connected to its natural surroundings. Assistance with luggage is available, and once guests arrive they are rewarded with an elevated position and wide views across the valley.

We welcome couples, families, hikers, nature lovers and independent travellers who are looking for something more personal than a conventional hotel stay. Whether you spend the day walking in the mountains, exploring the nearby yaylas or simply sitting with a cup of tea and watching the clouds move through the valley, Fora offers an opportunity to experience Ayder at a slower and more local rhythm.
