Eco Villa Triglav on Pokljuka
Deluxe ecological apartments and chalets with a lovely outdoor hot-tub , located in the heart of Triglav National Park and the Julian Alps.
'Vila Triglav' was built in the typical Plečnik style (famous Slovenian architect) in 1939 and
was owned by the Vrhunec family from Ljubljana. After World War 2 the government put a
lot of pressure on the owners until they sold the villa against their will at a low price in 1946.
For many years it was known as Tito's villa, then Kardelj's, and was used by president Tito
and his closest associates. Later it was used as a protocol venue of the Republic of Slovenia
and finally as a restaurant open to the public. In 1999 it was returned to the original owners in
the process of denationalisation but they did not want to keep it due to its troubled history. In
2007 'Vila Triglav' got a new owner, the Valjavec family, who restored it into a boutique
villa, paying utmost attention to the original details from 1939.

True Story
Tadej Valjavec is a former professional cyclist who was the first Slovenian to make it to the
top ten in both Tour de France and Giro d'Italia. Having finished his career, he took over the
villa, together with his young family, who gave names to the rooms: daughter Klara, son
Erazem, wife Mateja and Tadej himself. 'Chalet', however, is a renovated wooden shed which
offers complete privacy.

Luxuriously equipped apartments are comfortable and pleasantly warm, a perfect choice for spending summer as well as winter nights in the mountains. There are four apartments available. They were given the names of the members of the Valjavec family. All the apartments are equipped with an LCD television, wireless internet connection and hairdryer.

Unser Aufenthalt war super und die Unterkunft sehr sauber und gemütlich. Das Highlight ist natürlich der mit Holz beheitzte Pool auf der Terasse. Der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereich und gibt gute Tipps für Ausflüge in der Umgebung. Also insgesamt sehr weiter zu empfehlen!
