Food
Breakfast is included, but you can also book a set menu lunch and/or dinner at our family restaurant.

Here you can try traditional dishes prepared in a unique way, using 100% plant-based and vegan ingredients. You can taste regional favourites such as pasulj (beans) and gulasch (stew), but also other specialties of foreign cuisines such as: pizza, panzerotti, pasta, burgers, various soups and stews.
A special experience is the preparation and baking of homemade bread and pastries of wholemeal flour in our outdoor earth oven, over an open flame.

Drinks
In addition to tea, coffee, and natural juices, guests can try and enjoy the traditional drinks of southern Slavs - homemade brandy - Rakija, made from plums, apricots, quinces, and pears, homemade wine from Fruška Gora, as well as different types of beer.

Social life
In addition to the unique ambience, accommodation, and good food, Šumska 1 offers visitors 10 different experiences - ranging from activities to workshops to tours.

The hosts of Šumska 1 are happy to share their knowledge, experience, and emotions in forms of stories or activities about: music of the Balkans, biological diversity of the forest habitat of the Fruška Gora National Park, preparation of homemade brandy and traditional dishes in a vegan way etc.

Also, guests are offered tours of attractive locations, cultural historical monuments on Fruška Gora, and in Novi Sad.

Sustainability
The way of life at Šumska 1 is designed to support the sustainable use of energy and the saving of natural resources.

Rainwater is filtered, collected, and used for cooking, showering, and cleaning. We heat our hot water with the help of a solar boiler, and grey water ends its journey in our pond after purification by aquatic plants. We ask you to kindly use the natural soaps, shampoo, and toothpaste that we provide, or ensure that your own products are natural and fish-friendly!

We grow some of our own food from our organic vegetable garden.

The interior of the house
The walls of the guest rooms in Šumska 1 are made of the oldest materials known to man - earth, straw, reed, sand, water, and wood.
Traditional construction techniques were used in the design of this modern, rustic house. Earthen walls maintain a stable temperature and humidity, creating a pleasant microclimate in the interior of the entire house.

Outdoors and surrounding area
In addition to the two flushing toilets indoors, we also have two composting toilets outdoors which greatly reduce our water usage and environmental impact.

Beyond the fence of our yard is 23,000 ha of the mixed forest of Fruška Gora National Park, with a large number of marked hiking trails, lakes, and sites of medieval cultural heritage.

If you need something from the city, it takes 20 minutes by car, or 30 minutes by public bus to the centre of Novi Sad.
Novi Sad is the capital of the northern province Vojvodina, rich in cultural heritage, sports and urban facilities.
