We never planned to buy a holiday home. Quinta dos Lagares simply crossed our path — and we fell in love with this peaceful place in nature. It felt too special not to share.
Quinta dos Lagares was never part of a plan. We were not looking for a holiday home, but somehow this beautiful place found us. Surrounded by nature, with its own river, peaceful corners, old trees and a sense of space and freedom, it immediately felt special.
We soon realised that we did not want to keep this place only for ourselves. It felt almost impossible not to let other people experience the peace, beauty and simplicity we had found here.
Our small holiday home, Casa NiTo, is a place to slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy the quiet rhythm of the countryside. There is no television and no need to be constantly connected. Instead, you wake up to birdsong, spend time by the river, walk through the surrounding landscape or simply sit outside and do nothing at all.
We try to care for the Quinta in a conscious way. We use ecological cleaning products, separate our waste, use energy-efficient lighting and support local products and businesses whenever possible. We believe that travelling can be both comfortable and respectful of the environment and the local community.
Most of all, we hope our guests feel at home here and experience the same thing that touched us when we first arrived: the feeling that Quinta dos Lagares is not just somewhere to stay, but somewhere to breathe, slow down and enjoy a very special piece of Portugal.
