Twin Yurt Eco Retreat with Pool in the Algarve
Two private hillside yurts set in a peaceful off-grid valley in the Western Algarve. Solar-powered and thoughtfully furnished, with hot showers, compost toilets, outdoor space and a pool, all within easy reach of the coast.
Our hillside yurt retreat sits above a secluded valley in the Western Algarve, surrounded by eucalyptus forest, open countryside and wide views across the landscape.
The retreat consists of two yurts rented together as one private accommodation for up to six guests. The yurts, their outdoor areas and facilities are for the exclusive use of your group, giving you your own space to rest, spend time together and enjoy the surroundings at your own pace.
Each yurt has been individually furnished and equipped, with comfortable sleeping areas and outdoor space for sitting, eating and taking in the valley views.
Much of what you see here has been built, restored or created by us over time using reclaimed, upcycled and second-hand materials. Furniture and other features have been repaired, adapted and given a new purpose, reflecting our preference for maintaining and reusing what is already available wherever possible.
The property operates off-grid and is powered by solar energy, with water supplied from our own borehole. Water conservation is an important part of how the site works. The yurts have private compost toilets, significantly reducing water use for sanitation, and enclosed hot showers.
During the cooler months, an installed fireplace keeps the yurts warm and cosy. Wi-Fi is also available in the accommodation.
Guests are welcome to explore the wider land, including a large eucalyptus forest with informal walking routes and places to sit among the trees. The property supports a wide range of birdlife, insects, butterflies, and small reptiles, offering plenty to see for guests interested in the natural world.
During winter and early spring, when seasonal rainfall allows, a natural river runs through the property. It can be accessed from several areas of the land and brings another dimension to the valley, with the sound of flowing water joining the birds and other natural sounds around the retreat.
Guests also have year-round access to our swimming pool. The pool is shared with guests staying in our separate onsite guest house when it is occupied, while the hillside yurt retreat itself remains exclusively yours throughout your stay.
We live on the property and spend our days caring for the land, maintaining the spaces and continuing to develop the site thoughtfully. We are nearby when needed and respect guests' privacy throughout their stay.
Dogs are very welcome, with a maximum of two per stay. We ask owners to be considerate of the other people and animals on the property, and a small additional cleaning fee is payable on arrival.
The retreat feels comfortably removed from the busier parts of the Algarve while remaining well placed for exploring the region. Beaches can be reached in around 15 minutes by car, while Lagos and Portimão are both within approximately 30 minutes. This makes it easy to spend the day discovering beaches, coastal walks, markets, restaurants and nearby towns, then return to your own hillside space among the trees.

House Rules
We want guests to feel at home here and enjoy the peace of the valley while helping us care for the land and shared spaces. We ask that noise is kept to a respectful level, especially in the evening and at night, and that only registered guests use or stay in the accommodation. As an off-grid property powered by solar energy and supplied by our own borehole, we appreciate thoughtful use of water and electricity. Please follow the guidance provided for the compost toilets and only place suitable items in them. Smoking is permitted outdoors only and should be done responsibly, particularly during the dry season. Open fires are not permitted anywhere on the property. During the cooler months, the yurts are heated by a built-in fireplace, which guests are welcome to use following the provided guidance. Please be considerate when using the pool and shared areas, and supervise children around the pool and throughout the natural areas of the property. Pets are very welcome and should be kept under reasonable control, with owners cleaning up after them and being mindful of other guests and animals. Parties and events are not permitted, and vehicles should be left in the designated parking area. This is our home as well as a place we share with guests, and we ask everyone staying here to treat the land, facilities and surrounding nature with care.
