Monte do Grude is a carefully restored traditional taipa house, built with natural materials and a strong focus on sustainability. The house combines local craftsmanship with modern comfort, including solar-powered hot water, 100% solar energy, 100% renewables-heating-system, reuse of 100% of our water, and a deep respect for the surrounding environment. As this is also our family home, every detail has been created and maintained with care, warmth, and attention. We welcome guests as friends and invite you to experience the space with the same appreciation. Surrounded by cork trees, orchards and open land, the house offers a peaceful setting where nature, light and silence define the rhythm of the day.
The region around São Teotónio is one of the most authentic and diverse areas of the Alentejo coast. Just a short drive away, you will find some of Portugal’s most beautiful beaches, while the famous Rota Vicentina passes nearby, offering exceptional hiking and cycling routes along cliffs, valleys and rural landscapes. The area is rich in local culture and gastronomy, from fresh fish and traditional dishes to small markets and family-run restaurants.
Monte do Grude is designed for those seeking a slower pace: a place where sustainability, rural life and simplicity come together. Between agriculture, ocean and quiet countryside, it offers a genuine Portuguese atmosphere – calm, grounded and deeply connected to nature.

Monte do Grude is our family home as well as a guest space – we welcome you as friends and ask that you treat it with care and respect. Depending on our availability, check-in may be self check-in, with detailed instructions shared beforehand. The house includes carefully designed elements and technical systems; please follow the guidance provided on-site for proper use. We kindly ask guests to pay attention to the information available in the house to help maintain the space in the long term. Should you be booking during the winter/ colder periods, we'll provide an introduction to the wood-stove-based heating-system.
