Casa Motete - La Ceiba Natural Reserve House
The heart of the tropical dry forest. Unwind in our exclusive eco-house Casa Motete for an intimate retreat of up to 8 guests. Wake up to the sounds of the reserve and enjoy authentic, locally sourced meals at our on-site restaurant.
La Ceiba Nature Reserves are rich in flora and fauna. They provide refuge for families of endangered spider monkeys endemic to Azuero, as well as capuchin and howler monkeys.
Felines such as the jaguarundi and the oncilla (tigrillo) roam mainly at night. Ornithologists have reported more than 90 species of birds.
We have 5 ecological trails in the tropical dry forest, where researchers from different fields come to identify species and make discoveries.
The community of Oria Arriba, the town where the reserve is located, is rich in culture and handicrafts. There, *junco* (reed) hats are made and *motetes* (traditional baskets) are woven from vines.
We have a house with a capacity for 8 people and a restaurant featuring local products. We do not allow the use of plastics or single-use containers.
