Modern architecture encounters the natural landscaper in a unique way
This is the first landscape hotel in Europe. It's surrounded by mountains, a river with its gorge, uncontaminated nature. The hotel has 9 detached rooms with glass walls, each with a unique view on the landscape. There's also the possibility to stay in the old buildings of the farm the mill house, the barn and the authentically restored farmhouse – while meals are served communally in the old barn.
The seven landscape rooms are double rooms, seven small cubes on stilts with glass walls that offer each space a striking view of the valley, the river, the courtyard or the dramatic gorge below. The buildings blend in with nature. While no two rooms are alike, all the rooms have a dark interior to avoid stealing focus from the scenery.
The "birdhouses" are our new single rooms that remind the traditional Norwegian log house.
The hotel offers to its guests also a small Spa area with a steam room, showers and dressings room, an outdoor hot tub, a relaxation area with open fireplace and a quiet room.
We start the day with good bread. We don’t present a wide range of spreads and cold cuts, but you can count on having freshly made jam for bread or cereal, homemade scrambled eggs and smoked salmon prepared in the traditional style. In addition to freshly brewed coffee and tea, we offer locally sourced apple juice from the valley. Dinner is served at eight when our guests are back after the day’s outings. Then we sit down around the table to enjoy our meal together and talk about the day’s experiences. We serve good, traditional food that celebrates the local produce, naturally.
