Frisian Stay in side house of a 150+ yo Farmhouse
Stay in a former utility building of a farm that’s over 150 years old. Beautifully refurbished and cosy. Situated on the outskirts of the village. The space has a kitchenette, Private entrance and private shower/toilet.
Stay in a former utility building of a farm that’s over 150 years old. Beautifully refurbished and cosy. Situated on the outskirts of the village. The space has a kitchenette with a small oven, microwave, kettle, hotplate, etc. It may be possible to use the kitchen elsewhere in the house by arrangement. Unwind, enjoy a short cycle or a walk in the nearby countryside. Sit on the terrace in the sun. Private entrance of needed and private toilet/shower.
Relax for a while in the sauna or jacuzzi. These can be booked in advance or on the day for a fee. The jacuzzi is in the garden, and the sauna is indoors with a choice of infrared or Finnish options. Sauna sessions are for a maximum of 30 minutes and jacuzzi sessions for 45 minutes. Times of use to be agreed with the host.

Nature and surroundings:
Visit the lovely town of Dokkum or cycle through the nature reserve in De Falom. The Lauwersmeer area is also a lovely spot for cycling or for a walk in the village or in the woods at Driesum. A little further afield is the Scherjon Clog Museum, where you can still see clogs being made and buy them. There’s also a lovely open-air museum, the Sukerij, which is well worth a visit. Ask the owners for more great places to cycle or walk. The garden has been landscaped by the residents themselves using organically grown or recycled plants. One of the owners is a natural gardener.
Eco
We use eco cleaning materials. Water saving by special tap tip in kitchenette and special shower head plus a water saving sanibroyeur toilet. Decorated with mostly refubished or secondhand materials but still good qualituly. Energy and heat mostly by solar panels and heat panels and in winter via a high efficient pallet stove running on waste wood/pallets from a nearby woodworking company. Garden is mix of native and otjer plants but all maintained ecologicly. Jacuzzi runs only on solar panels, and is off on winter. Trash is recycled, grey trash is sorted by our profincial sorting, paper, glass, cans and bottles are seperate. Green wast is also seperate and gos eather directly in the garden, to the compost heap/bokashi or counties local compost. Please place in their designated boxes. Rainwater is collected and used to water the plants, also somethimes can be used for showering and toilet too if the designated reservoir is full.
Travel
You can arrive by bycicle following to Knooppunt 66, also nearby is a bus that stops. Dokkum is nearby and cyclible distance. If by car or motorbike? Car can be parked at the road or on a spot on the drive. Motorbikes can get a safe spot behind the main house.
