Glamping in a tropical setting, fruit and vegetable gardens, walk to secluded beaches, friendly community of Canelles, adjacent to 20-acre green space, local host/ caretaker, short drive to Vieux Fort airport and shopping. Transportation available.
This property is a dream still coming true. We are in the midst of slowly building our home in the small, local neighborhood of Canelles, St Lucia. Currently, we have both electric and WIFI installed, re-fillable propane tank for cooking and a 600-gallon water tank and an enclosed outdoor bathroom with flushable toilet. The large 10'x30' covered patio has a kitchenette and living space with a combination of solar, battery-operated and electric (low energy) lighting. A tent provides comfortable sleeping quarters with a queen-sized bed and room for personal belongings. There is an 8'x10' uncovered rooftop patio for lounging and enjoying the views (storage area below). Our gardens are maturing and now producing tropical fruits and vegetables for our guests to enjoy. Out local host and caretaker can introduce you to how to prepare local dishes, in addition to giving local advice/tours information to our guests.
Our neighbor's are friendly and everyone watches out for others - frequently you will see neighbor's greeting you on their evening walks. (Security can be provided by our caretaker for those inclined, however.) Local transportation is available by private taxi, rental car or local buses and our host can arrange for you. While we find taking the very affordable local buses (10 minute walk) to and from town is convenient, for larger food shopping trips we typically hire a private taxi to return us home (still very affordable). Vieux Fort has most amenities we have needed (grocery store, drug store, banks, etc.) and a nice local market street for home grown food, fresh seafood and artisan items.
We have several secluded beaches within walking distance and a fresh water river feeding into the ocean. Palm trees, almond trees, sea grapes and other tropical vegetation offers plenty of cover from the sun and provides soothing sounds of the winds blowing through them. Fishing, snorkeling and swimming are options, but remember to respect the power of the ocean. Never swim alone!
The pictures we have posted cover 2 years. We will continue add updated pics after current new work is completed this summer. Most pics were taken last year, as we were begnning the storage area, dipping pool and the septic construction.
We look forward to having you join us in our ever-evolving dream!
