We are more than a destination; we are an evolving ecovillage working toward a vision of deep sustainability, permaculture, and self-sufficiency. Our footprint is intentional: we run mostly on solar energy, harvest our water from a pure island spring, and treat the land as a living ecosystem. We are excited to start cultivating our food and exploring auto-sufficiency, learning from the earth every day.
When you stay with us, you aren't just a tourist; you become a vital part of this ecosystem, supporting beach cleanups, wildlife rehabilitation, and a community model that respects the wild jungle we call home.

Welcome to Kactus: Our Island Rules & Intentions Kactus is more than just a place to sleep; it is an off-grid sanctuary, a living community, and a return to the essential. Because we live in harmony with the wild nature of Koh Ta Kiev, we ask our guests to arrive with a shared sense of awareness and respect. Here is how we harmoniously share this space: 1. Come with an Open Heart & Mind We welcome humans from all walks of life. We ask that you step onto the island with an open-minded, non-judgmental attitude. Be ready to connect, slow down, and perhaps try new things—whether that is a morning Qi Gong session, a silent meditation, or a deep dive into our wood-fired sauna and ice bath. 2. Respect the Wild & Our Animal Friends We share this island with incredible wildlife, as well as our own rescued animals. Treat all creatures with kindness and give them their space. Do not feed the wildlife or leave food in your bungalows, as this invites curious jungle visitors. 3. Mind What Goes Down the Drain Our sanctuary is fully off-grid, and our water comes directly from a natural island spring. Because this water returns to the earth, we strictly ask that you use biodegradable, reef-safe, and eco-friendly toiletries. Avoid harsh chemical soaps, sunscreens, and insect repellents that can poison the soil and the surrounding coral reefs. 4. The Plastic & Trash Footprint We pack in everything we use and work hard to keep our beaches pristine. Single-use plastics are strongly discouraged. Please bring a reusable water bottle. If you bring packaged items to the island, we kindly ask that you take your plastic wrappers/packaging back to the mainland with you whenever possible. Separate your waste carefully into our designated bins. 5. Embrace the Off-Grid Flow Living with solar energy means being mindful of our resources. Use electricity consciously and turn off lights when you leave your space. Conserve our precious spring water when showering. Embrace the natural rhythm of the island—unplug from the digital world and plug back into nature. 6. Peace, Quiet, and Community We cherish the natural sounds of the jungle and the ocean. Please keep noise levels peaceful, especially during the early mornings and late evenings, so everyone can rest and reset. Thank you for stepping into our ecosystem with respect and curiosity.
