Hillside Veranda is located in the southwestern region of Westmoreland, Jamaica West Indies. It is approximately one hour drive from Montego Bay Sangster Airport. 20 Kilometers to Ys Falls and 27 Kilometers to Black River Bay. There are four bedrooms (two upstairs and two downstairs) and an adjoining single floor Cottage. All rooms have private bathrooms. This calming retreat utilizes green practices in its daily operations such as waste recycling, composting, low flow shower heads and Linen re-use program. Hillside Veranda is highly affordable with its budget friendly inclusive breakfast and transportation to and from the Airport with every booking.
It receives its lush vegetation and cool climate from the seasonal rainfall and sea winds. There are no Air Conditioning units. Rooms are equipped with fans and windows may be opened to allow more ventilation. The home is served by harvesting rainfall into wells for everyday use and Solar for hot water and electrical use. Meals are prepared from food sourced locally. They are traditionally inspired and culturally focused. Traditional breakfast is included with all reservations. We practice composting and recycling and living sustainable to ensure the preservation of plants and the environment. There are plenty of activities both inside and outside. Feel free to wake to the sounds of the black birds thrashing in the mango trees or sit still and enjoy the sounds of the local chatter. There are plenty of opportunities to get exercise, such as walking up the steep driveway or practicing yoga on the upstairs balcony. Offsite excursions may be purchased for those interested in visiting the falls, museums and other local sites. Just so you know. There are no elevators. Sorry: only service animals allowed.
