Agriturismo Il Rigo - 53027 San Quirico d'Orcia - Siena - Italy

A family run organic farm, a bed & breakfast and restaurant in the heart of the Val d'Orcia hills

Nestled in the rolling hills of the Val d'Orcia, Il Rigo is the ideal place for couples seeking romance and peace. An ideal starting point for numerous cultural and eno-gastronomic itineraries, it is located less than 20 minutes from Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano and from the Bagno Vignoni thermal baths. For lovers of walking and cycling, there are maps with many rings that start directly from the Rigo.

The rooms have been created in the two farm houses and have been furnished like a house, using the old furniture of the farm, some of which are real antiques.
In the rooms there is no television, so as not to disturb the tranquility of these places; magazines and books to browse are available and we think it's more pleasant to come together to enjoy a glass of wine. The wi-fi connection is present throughout the house and in most of the garden.
There is no air conditioning, but our area is very windy and you can leave the windows open to let in the night breeze. Portable fans are available for the hottest summer evenings.
There is no swimming pool, but in the large barnyard that surrounds the house are scattered deckchairs and hammocks for sunbathing! If you are really nature lovers you can take a dip in the bio-lake and swim among the water lilies, with frogs!

Casabianca - the main building - houses most of the farm rooms. It is a stone building and preserves the original 16th century plan. Inside there is a beautiful courtyard with the old wood-burning oven which leads to the old barn, where dinner is served every evening. The reception and restaurant are located in this building

Poggio Bacoca - the red-brick farm - houses 7 rooms and is 1 KM from Casabianca. It can be reached by car in less than two minutes. The path is very nice to walk in less than 10 minutes. The house was built in the '30s to accommodate families of sharecroppers who worked the fields around.

At breakfast you will find cereals, milk and yogurt, homemade jams, homemade cold cuts and pecorino di Pienza. Each is prepared a new dessert, with stone-ground organic flours. Even the sourdough bread is prepared at home. Once a month the bread is baked in the old wood oven and you can watch the preparation.

In the evening it is possible to have dinner on the farm. We offer a four course set menu that changes every day. Our kitchen is traditional Tuscan, we use local products, cereals and legumes of the farm, field herbs and vegetables from the organic vegetable garden.
