Rifugio La Sciverna
A refuge immersed in the Geopark area of Monte Beigua, along the Alta Via of the Ligurian Mountains, offers hospitality, but also food a km zero, spaces for workshops and laboratories. A few steps away is the beautiful and renowned historical center of Sassello.
A farmhouse immersed in the greenery of the Beigua Regional Park, in the unique and mythical meeting place in Italy between the Alps, the Apennines, the plain and the sea. The refuge is located along the connecting routes to the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, a step away from the beautiful and renowned historic center of Sassello.
The structure is open all year round. An advance notice is required in the winter months.
It is suitable for large groups (in the "Sciverna Media" structure with 5 rooms with bunk beds and 3 shared bathrooms) such as scouts, school groups, communities and day centers. But it also offers privacy to couples or families with its two independent houses: the "Casa dei Cinghiali" and the "Casa del Custode".
The structure, located between the Apennine hills and pastures, is an old farmhouse renovated respecting the original forms and construction materials, with the reuse in the furnishings also of elements recovered and adapted to new needs and particular creations of the managers.
Around the buildings that make up the structure there is a large lawn area, a garden designed using mostly wild and native plants, with the harmonious insertion of some ornamental species. To adorn everything, and an integral part of the life of the Refuge, are its "Collective Gardens" both traditional and synergistic. Here you can collect your own food at km 0!
It is the ideal starting point for excursions in the Sassellese area, in the Beigua Park, in particular to the Deiva forest and Lake Gulli, to the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri.
Eco-sustainable hospitality, but also spaces for workshops, workshops, events, thematic days, excursions and vegetable gardens, creativity and planning of opportunities for meeting and exchanging people. Under the banner of a necessary apprenticeship in the art of living and according to a secular interpretation of the "ora et labora", meditation and work mark and mark the time of the guests of the refuge, who together with its managers and registered members will collaborate in achieving the objectives enshrined in the statute of Cascina Granbego.
The Association organizes workshops and workshops for young and old, such as "How to make bread" and "How to make a vegetable garden". Alessandra, Massimo and Roberto of the "Cascina Granbego" Social Promotion Association belonging to Arci have been managing the "La Sciverna" Hiking Refuge since July 2014. The ancient name Sciverna, "keep in store during the winter", indicates the value of custody and care in difficult times such as today. The staff of Cascina Granbego proposes, with this new management, to restore their original names to the ancient places and to allocate the spaces of the La Sciverna Refuge to the development of their idea of freedom, of caring for themselves and others, of defense environment and tradition, but with an eye to the future.
