The Time of the Village - the value of slowness -
We are Anna and Luca, a couple of doctors who believe in the profound value of slowness. That's why we left the profession early, to rediscover a more sustainable lifestyle. We now live in a tiny village in Tuscany (fewer than twenty people), off the beaten track of overtourism, within the UNESCO Apennine Biosphere Reserve. A half-hour drive takes you to the Cinque Terre National Park and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park, both highly visited, but if you'd like, we can suggest how and where to visit them in complete solitude.
We practice permaculture and composting in a biodynamic garden, irrigated by the stream. We collect wild edible herbs. We produce our own eggs (from happy hens), bread, herbal teas, infused oils, and soap, as well as placemats and bags made from raffia, cotton, and hemp.
On May 1st of this year, we opened two holiday homes, awaiting the issuance of the European Certificate for Sustainable Tourism (CETS). At home, we use electricity from renewable sources, only recycled paper, and organic cotton. In the kitchen, we've eliminated single-use and single-portion items, PFAS, and minimized plastic.
We believe responsible travel isn't a vacation intended to fill a void in activity, but rather an
act of growth and knowledge, through listening and respect, to be experienced at the right time and with the right people. We don't want to rent homes, but rather offer opportunities for experiences: for 2026, we're offering free experiential activities (see the general images of the house for details).
There are numerous hiking and cycling trails around the house. If you're lucky, you might spot porcupines, wild boars, foxes, badgers, and hawks, as well as wolves, which live permanently in our valley and we can easily find signs of their presence. The historic Via Marchesana (a branch of the Via Francigena), the CastagnaBike trail, and the Lunigiana Trekking trail pass through the village. You can use our e-bike charging station and the book-crossing point we've installed at the entrances to each house. And we're in Lunigiana: hundreds of small villages and castles to explore at a leisurely pace.
Part of the cost of your stay will be donated to support the village of the Il Pungiglione solidarity cooperative (Mulazzo), which you can visit.

House Rules
Le due case si trovano nel borgo di Villecchia , con vista sulla valle e a pochi passi dal parcheggio. Seguite le indicazioni per la nostra stazione di bookcrossing per raggiungerci. Vi preghiamo di notare che la strada è in leggera discesa e alcune scale, a causa della natura storica degli edifici, potrebbero risultare impegnative per gli ospiti con mobilità ridotta. Il borgo è molto piccolo e non dispone di negozi o locali pubblici. Un panificio tradizionale si trova a 5 km, con consegna del pane tre volte a settimana, e una volta a settimana passa un furgone con pesce fresco da La Spezia. Per altri servizi è necessario spostarsi di circa 10 km a valle. Al vostro arrivo vi daremo utili indicazioni per un sereno soggiorno. Per rispettare le esigenze di tutti i nostri ospiti, siamo spiacenti di non poter accettare animali domestici 🐾
