- CIR 066058CVP0004 - The detached house is in the historic center of the Civitaretenga hamlet of Navelli (AQ), it is part of the first anti-seismically rebuilt complex after the 2009 earthquake and was returned to the property in 2020.
Developed on two levels, ideal for a group of friends or family: it has a kitchen with all the equipment (dishes, plates, glasses, coffee machine, kettle, microwave oven...), a living room, a bathroom with shower.
The second floor is accessed via an internal staircase and there are: a large bedroom with double bed, a bedroom with two single beds and overlooking the plain. They are divided by a relaxation room with bookcase, TV and sofa (which can be opened to a square and 1/2).
The furnishings are partly recycled and adapted with self-made techniques. There is differentiated collection (on the external balcony the buckets for the various types of waste). The tap water is fresh and drinkable, therefore there are no plastic bottles, only glass carafes.
Externally the lighting is generated by LED instrumentation and stars. The village that is returning to its former glory is demonstrated by its alleys, stairs, squares, where the desire to be reborn is evident. For these characteristics it is not accessible to the disabled.
The (free) car park is a few tens of meters away and to unload your luggage it is best to stop in the square behind the Church at the crossroads with Via Carducci. From here take 3 or 4 large stairs, turn left and immediately go down via degli Archi where the entrance to the balcony/outdoor gallery is on the right.
The spirit of hospitality is to rediscover the simplicity of uncrowded places, very relaxing, at times silent, rediscovering the pleasure of walking in the surrounding rural villages, perhaps pedaling along the dirt roads that connect the entire Navelli plain. At 4 km there is Caporciano, with its hamlet Bominaco, famous for the Oratory of San Pellegrino (the small Sistine Chapel of Abruzzo) and the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.
The ancient city of Peltuinum 12 km away, between Prata d'Ansidonia and Castelnuovo offers the remains of a splendid Amphitheater.
At 20 km Le Grotte di Stiffe, a marvel of nature.
For those wishing to climb in altitude, the Rocca di Calascio stands 23 km away, famous throughout the world also for being the set of the film "Lady Hawke" and for a breathtaking landscape. 47 km away is Campo Imperatore, a tourist destination on the rise.
For a historical and cultural tour, 30 km away is L'Aquila, a historic city of rare beauty. At 3 km Navelli, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, particular in its features, with alleys, stairs, historic buildings and the Museum of Saffron, a spice that is still cultivated and marketed.
In Civitaretenga there is the Cooperative of the Navelli Plateau, which manages a hostel at the convent/cloister of S. Francesco, where events, festivals and meetings take place in the summer. At their headquarters it is possible to buy the red gold, the saffron. In the village there is also a recreational club with a bowling alley and a grocery store.
The bus stop is 3 km away, in nearby Navelli. Civitaretenga occasionally passes a bus from San Benedetto in Perillis to L'Aquila and back.
