Oro di Berta

Via dell’Oro 173 - 13833 Portula - Province of Biella - Italy

Our farmhouse is the ideal place to enjoy a regenerating break and moments of relaxation.

Good morning! We are Tristano and Paola, together we share our emotional and working life.
Our organic company, founded in 1998, is located in Valsessera, in the municipality of Portula, 750 meters above sea level inside the Zegna Oasis.
It has an area of approximately 10 hectares, partly cultivated with seasonal fruit and vegetables, partly with chestnuts and walnuts, the rest meadows and woods.
Part of the production is transformed in our laboratory into jams and preserves; the flagship of the production is the walnut oil typical of the area.

In the heart of the most famous valley for the fine wool processing, we have created our Agriturismo by renovating an ancient eighteenth-century factory, with particular attention to the architectural recovery and the materials used, using the typical furnishings of the local tradition.
Here you can relax while enjoying our specialties

The renovation of the ancient factory allowed us to give new life to a place that had been abandoned to the neglect of time. Today our bedrooms are equipped with the most modern comforts while maintaining the atmosphere and charm of the past: the exposed wooden beams, the period furnishings and the wrought iron beds enrich the atmosphere with an evocative charm .
Respecting the ancient structure of the building and the environment, we have chosen the wood heating method (it is obtained from our forests) and to use solar panels to obtain eco-sustainable and completely green energy.
The water that flows from our taps is chlorine-free, as the consortium uses lamps to purify drinking water, and rainwater is recovered in underground tanks for the irrigation of our crops.

Nature, authenticity, typicality and zero-mile products: our cuisine is characterized by typical dishes of the Piedmontese tradition and is strongly linked to local products. Our menus are inspired by ancient local recipes, revisited in a contemporary key, to guarantee our guests a healthy diet, based on the valorisation of the highest quality products and the genuine flavors of the past.
Among our dishes, typical of the Biella tradition, you can find, depending on the season, the supa mitunà based on bread, broth, herbs from the meadows or garden; stuffed vegetables, such as courgette flowers, or capunet, with cabbage leaves; omelettes with wild herbs; sorrel fondue with local cheeses, such as macagn, and tasty autumn dishes prepared with chestnuts, pumpkins and mushrooms.
The products we offer to our guests come mainly from our farm, or from local companies, to guarantee the freshness and authenticity of the products, in compliance with a sustainable food and wine culture.
The wines that match the dishes of our cuisine all come from local farms carefully selected by us.

The educational farm aims to interact with adults and children by revealing the agricultural world in its entirety, through workshops and specific courses on various topics.
