PURPLE APARTMENT 2
is an apartment housed in a building of Roman and early medieval origin, located in via degli Orti 4, less than 50 meters from the square of Santa Chiara, in Assisi.
The restaurant is located on the ground floor of a building, an area usually used as a merchant's warehouse or an artisan's workshop, which they often used for some work, the narrow rear courtyard now owned by another property.
In medieval times, townhouses were mostly single-family houses. Generally, these are shop-houses in which both the master and his family, as well as apprentices and workers live; they are often rented houses. The strong urbanization led to an overlap between the ancient urban structures of the Roman era and the need to accommodate more and more people within the city walls.
Thus began to rise brick-built tower-houses, which also develop on four or five floors.
