To experience the authentic atmosphere of the Parma, where the great river meets the Little World of Giovanni Guareschi.
We are in the heart of the "small world", the land of Don Camillo and Peppone inhabiting "that slice of rich soil and flat which is between the river and the mountain, between the Po and the Apennines."
Located in San Secondo Parmense in the Emilian countryside, the B & B from grandmother Maria is a traditional country house renovated and zero environmental impact.
What we propose is not a simple overnight stay and breakfast, but a moment of relax to share with us in an atmosphere of familiarity and simplicity in our house sustainable.
This time starts from the first breakfast, to be consumed in the warmth of the fireplace or in the shade in front of the home and that the mother Gisella prepared with so much care and love: now his homemade cakes and pies are her very well known and highly appreciated!
Between a slice of pie and a cup of milk and coffee we will know each other and chat.
For the more daring, on request and according to the seasons, we can also offer the typical products of our territory such as salami, culatello, the bow and the cup.
The rooms are of various types, with private bathroom and feature a blend of traditional furnishings and modern amenities such as TV, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. A well-equipped kitchen is available to guests.
You can contact us for more unusual activities such as cycling (which we provide free of charge), visits to dairies producing Parmigiano-Reggiano or even visits to wineries with production and maturation of salted pork, the king of meats, as well as wine .
Our B & B is in the middle of four castles and a palace that tell us about our past and show us the work of numerous artists and painters. Also we are in the heart of "Little World", the scene of the novels of Guareschi, from whose pen came to life unforgettable characters such as Don Camillo and Peppone. Guareschi was born right here, in Fontanelle and is near here that his sympathetic look-alike Caesar founded the "Center of Boscaccio" original museum dedicated to him. Not far away they are then places Verdiani enclose and guard a few kilometers the origin and life of Giuseppe Verdi. For nature lovers we offer a relaxing boat trips on the Po or carriage rides along the ruts of its floodplains.
Finally we can not forget the great culinary tradition that accompanies us for centuries: the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Culatello, the Shoulder of San Secondo, the wine Fortana Taro and Felino salami and a little higher towards the hills, Parma's ham.
