It is not enough a lifetime to discover and know a city like Palermo but it takes only a few days to realize that its geometry, its language, its monuments, its cuisine, the richness, the aromas and the colors of its markets are the result of its thousand souls, of the dominations, of the exchanges and of the welcome that have always characterized a city that already in its name, "all port", reveals the opening towards the world.

Precisely for its stratification, for its culture understood not only as an artistic culture but also as a culture of peace, acceptance and legality, Palermo has been selected as the Italian Capital of Culture 2018.

The calendar of the summer months of this 2018 is also enriched by the many initiatives proposed in the context of Manifesta 12, the European nomadic Biennial, born in the early '90s in Amsterdam in response to the political, economic and cultural change that started at the end of the Cold War with the aim of facilitating, through art, social integration in Europe. The Manifesta committee chose Palermo for its relevance on two main themes that identify contemporary Europe: migration and climatic conditions, and on the impact these issues have in our lives.
