Fattoria Barbialla Nuova is a a large organic farm and forested estate in the heart of Tuscany. We offer farm stay accommodation in self-catering apartments or a farmhouse managed by a small community of international staff. The unique mix of aesthetics and nature offers our guests the opportunity to enjoy an authentic farm stay.
Our farm is a wild and beautiful place to spend a creative, relaxing, cultural or gastronomic vacation. The properties are self-catering, with no hotel services. However, adventurous guests will be pleased to discover that they have the entire estate to explore and the ancient traditions of Tuscany to experience first hand.
All three rental houses - Brentina, Doderi and Le Trosce - are original "case coloniche" renovated with respect to local traditions and materials. As such, each house has its own geography and character. We have worked hard to maintain the rustic simplicity of the farmhouses, tastefully and individually designing each one to ensure a charming, unique and restful stay. Each apartment is equipped with a modern kitchen & bathrooms, linen and cookware. The houses are not equipped with phones, TV or air-conditioning, though fans are provided when needed.
Barbialla Nuova is the perfect place to disconnect from the daily routine and take a break following Nature's rhythms. At the same time, we offer several experiences that can make your stay unique and memorable, as cooking classes, guided walks, white truffle hunting. Very amusing for loving-nature adults, we found out (although we suspected that) that Barbialla Nuova is a natural amusement park for kids. Playing with dirt, rocks, leaves, climbing trees, walking in the woods are all unforgettable moments for our little ones, who get to experience nature first-hand. However, even for them we selected a few experiences outside Barbialla Nuova that can contribute to make their trip unforgettable, like feeding the animals, petting the cats, walking on our trails, having a cooking class with the chef.
Our farm is based on the classic Tuscan custom of holding the land in deep respect. Certified organic for more than 20 years, we do not use any chemicals and hold the well-being of both animals and the land in the highest regard. That helps us produce an extraordinarily high quality of meat, olive oil, white truffles and honey. In every decision, we attempt to strike a balance and take into account the development of the entire property, rather than concentrating only on profit. We consider the land to be in continuous transformation and treat the farm as a living organism. We produce organic Chianina meat, which is sold in our short-chain restaurant in Florence (Le Lune Ristorante nel Vivaio, olive oil, honey and white truffles.

BEFORE BOOKING (Suggestions for adventurous travelers)
This is a real working farm. We've dirt roads connecting the houses to the Reception. Regular cars are fine, but low sport cars are not recommended for driving within the farm. Having a car is strongly recommended during your stay; the farm does not provide shuttle services to and from the houses.
This is an organic farm. That means living nature... including insects! If you are allergic to wasps/bees/horseflies, etc., this might *not* be the right place for you.
This is a eco-friendly place where to disconnect from a busy life! No Tv, no DVD players, no air conditioning, just gorgeous nature!
Bring appropriate shoes and expect real, rustic, yet comfortable countryside living.
We constantly strive to make sure that energy and water supply, as well as the internet connection, are in good working order. However, managing these systems in the middle of the countryside is challenging. Except for electricity, Barbialla Nuova is off the grid, and just bouncing the internet signal between houses is quite a feat. We ask our guests to be patient in case water or internet problems arise and to notify the management promptly; rest assured we work very hard to fix any issue in a timely manner, and most are solved within minutes or hours.
From the last week of September to December you may see hunters on the property. You need to be aware of their presence and make sure they are aware of yours!
