The Breath of Stone: A 1668 Legacy Between Heaven and Earth
On the highest hills of Monopoli, where the air is always fresh and the gaze wanders between the blue sky and the green hills, stands a home that has belonged to my family for generations. It's more than just a trullo: it's a piece of living history, a bridge between my ancestors and the present.
The heart of the structure is the 1668 trullo sovrano, a work of spontaneous stone architecture that we brought to light, respecting every single original stone. Around it, the other cones have been restored, preserving the external aesthetic intact, as if time had stood still.
An Ethical and Sensory Restoration
We chose to let the house "breathe" by using only living, natural materials. Lime and hemp insulation ensure a perfect microclimate in every season, while the white lime finishes and tadelakt details give the walls a unique tactile softness. Inside, well-being is guided by the principles of Feng Shui, designed to harmonize energy flows and ensure deep, rejuvenating rest.
Craftsmanship and Pieces of History
Each piece of furniture tells a story: they are handcrafted by local master craftsmen or Apulian antiques, some belonging to my ancestors, lovingly restored. As you wander through the rooms, you'll encounter clay and straw sculptures emerging from the walls as a tribute to the earth, merging with the wood and stone in a natural embrace.

Outside, the trullo's bare stone blends with the natural hillside and Mediterranean scrub. Here, among centuries-old olive trees and the scent of rosemary, your gaze sweeps toward the horizon, enjoying the constant breeze that makes this the coolest corner of Monopoli.
The outdoor space is an open-air museum: wrought-iron sculptures, shaped by fire and hammer by local artisans, dot the garden like silent guardians, creating a fascinating play of shadows as the sun sets.
For moments of conviviality, you'll find a dedicated barbecue area, where you can cook outdoors surrounded by silence and beauty. It's the ideal place for a dinner under the stars, where the iron of the sculptures, the stone of the chianche, and the wood of the outdoor furniture tell, once again, a story of primordial elements and love for the land.

The restoration was not just a construction site, but a collective act of love. Each stone was laid by local master craftsmen, custodians of ancient knowledge, using exclusively local materials: stone from our quarries, earth from our hills, wood from our forests.
But the true soul of this house beats thanks to a tangle of global stories. Artist friends and travelers from every corner of the world stayed here during the construction, leaving a mark of their presence. Some shaped a piece of clay, some forged a detail in iron, some suggested a corner of light: each contributed a piece of beauty and magic, transforming this refuge into a mosaic of cultures that deeply respects its Apulian roots.

Il Respiro della Pietra: Un’Eredità del 1668 tra Cielo e Terra Sulle colline più alte di Monopoli, dove l’aria è sempre fresca e lo sguardo si perde tra l’azzurro del cielo e il verde delle colline, sorge una dimora che appartiene alla mia famiglia da generazioni. Non è solo un trullo: è un pezzo di storia vivente, un ponte tra i miei antenati e il presente. Il cuore della struttura è il trullo sovrano del 1668, un’opera di architettura spontanea in pietra che abbiamo riportato alla luce rispettando ogni singola chianca originale. Attorno ad esso, gli altri coni sono stati restaurati preservando l’estetica esterna intatta, come se il tempo si fosse fermato. Un Restauro Etico e Sensoriale Abbiamo scelto di far "respirare" la casa utilizzando solo materiali vivi e naturali. Gli isolamenti in calce e canapa garantiscono un microclima perfetto in ogni stagione, mentre le finiture in calce bianca e i dettagli in tadelakt donano alle pareti una morbidezza tattile unica. All'interno, il benessere è guidato dai principi del Feng Shui, studiati per armonizzare i flussi energetici e assicurare un riposo profondo e rigenerante. Artigianato e Pezzi di Storia Ogni mobile racconta una storia: sono arredi realizzati a mano da maestri artigiani locali o pezzi di antiquariato pugliese recuperati con amore. Camminando tra le stanze, incontrerete sculture in argilla e paglia che emergono dalle pareti come omaggio alla terra, fondendosi con il legno, il ferro e la pietra in un abbraccio naturale. Un’Opera Collettiva di Mani e Cuore Il restauro non è stato solo un cantiere, ma un atto d’amore corale. Ogni pietra è stata posata da mastri artigiani locali, custodi di un sapere antico, utilizzando esclusivamente materiali di prossimità: la pietra delle nostre cave, la terra delle nostre colline, il legno dei nostri boschi. Ma la vera anima di questa casa batte grazie a un intreccio di storie globali. Amici artisti e viaggiatori da ogni angolo del mondo hanno soggiornato qui durante i lavori, lasciando un segno del loro passaggio. Chi ha modellato un’argilla, chi ha forgiato un dettaglio in ferro, chi ha suggerito un angolo di luce: ognuno ha donato un pezzo di bellezza e magia, trasformando questo rifugio in un mosaico di culture che rispetta profondamente le sue radici pugliesi. È una dimora che parla dialetto ma capisce tutte le lingue del mondo.
