We are in Valfontanabuona, the green valley of slate! Here the air is always fresh and clean and tranquility is guaranteed!
The apartment for 5 - 6 people is surrounded by olive and chestnut trees, is on the second floor and is accessed via a staircase, the entrance is independent. Your pet animals are welcome guests and free parking under the house for two cars. Portofino, Rapallo, Recco, Camogli- San Fruttuoso are 30 minutes from here.The Genoa Aquarium is 40 minutes away.
A cycle path, the "CICLOVIA DELL ARDESIA", ( along the Entella river takes you from Gattorna to the beautiful beaches of Lavagna and Chiavari.
If, on the other hand, you do not intend to pedal, in local trattorias you can taste many typical dishes of our hinterland, forgetting the comings and goings of mass tourism.
Among the many itineraries we suggest The Ring of the Caucasus, ( Metropolitana.genova.it/content/poi/anello-del-caucaso), a 25 km path that winds along the slopes of mount Caucasus between dirt roads, paths and mule tracks also suitable for mountain bikes. A challenging elevation gain of 2100 meters that offers alternative routes and therefore usable even by the less experienced.
A different tour than usual? We suggest the Damascus Museum of Lorsica .. antique kilns and the history of one of the main activities in the valley that produced damasks, lampasse and macramé.
Or a visit to the Gambatesa mine, ( to Ne (Valgraveglia) underground; here they extracted the braunite you will enter with the train of miners in the wagons of the mineral!
The guide will tell you another unknown side of Liguria and you can book a morning of birdwatching or instructive walks among the geological outcrops and bossete.
When the vegetable garden is productive we offer our guests a dinner, generally vegetarian! Along the coast, instead, the most famous restaurants of the Gulf of Tigullio will offer you fish, trofie with pesto, focaccia, whitebait and farinata.
To build this house slate was used, the local stone better known as Lavagna (that of the school), extracted for centuries in the valley: the roof, the walls, the floors, the windowsills, the jambs and the steps are all in slate natural split! The "Godin" cast iron wood-burning stove is waiting for winter to warm up wonderfully and to keep company.
The garden around is full of aromatic plants: basil is sown for pesto, but laurel triumphs, sage and rosemary also grow well, we use the Luisa herb and lemons for a digestive liqueur and the table.
The lavender bloom attracts many insects in the garden, bees and butterflies buzz willingly on June flowers.
