Cisterne
In the heart of the wild nature of Macari, just a few kilometers from San Vito Lo Capo, lies Marcato Grande: a special place, the fruit of rebirth, resilience, and love for the land. Here, you can sleep in a cistern transformed into an eco-glamping site.
When we purchased the property in 2007, we found an abandoned landscape and an old truck tanker, empty and forgotten. Shortly thereafter, a fire devastated the entire area, leaving only ashes behind. From that moment, a long recovery process began: years of work to rebuild, replant, and bring life back to where there seemed to be nothing left.
Today, Marcato Grande is the result of this commitment: an authentic place to enjoy an immersive experience in Mediterranean nature.
The old tanker has been carefully transformed into a simple and welcoming accommodation, perfect for two people.
Inside, you'll find:
- a double bed (or two single beds)
- a removable table with benches
- shelves and basic amenities
A simple space, designed to slow down and reconnect with the surrounding environment.
Outside, life unfolds in the shade of a Zibibbo grape pergola, with its sweetest bunches in season.
The spaces include:
- a small kitchen equipped with an electric stove and refrigerator
- an outdoor shower surrounded by nature
- a restroom area with a sink and toilet
- a relaxation area with sun loungers, a table, and chairs facing the sea
All around, seven hectares of land offer open views of the sea and mountains, amidst Mediterranean plants and rejuvenating silence.
Marcato Grande was born with a strong commitment to a sustainable lifestyle, built step by step over the years.
Among the practices adopted:
- use of hot water from a solar panel
- organic products grown on-site (olive oil, jams, seasonal fruit and vegetables)
- attention to land management and fire prevention
- enhancement of a restored natural area
A constantly evolving project, with the aim of continuously improving its environmental impact.
The property is located about 1 km from the village of Macari, reachable with a short drive or scooter ride along a quiet road.
You can walk down to Santa Margherita Bay for a swim in the crystal-clear waters (the climb back up is more challenging).
Nearby:
- Small local restaurants and a bar in the village
- San Vito Lo Capo, just 4 km away, with beaches, shops, and services
- Numerous opportunities for hiking, nature, and culture
