In the center of Carloforte, in Sardinia, is this organic B & B.
The rooms are renovated with Bio-building products, have private bathroom, free wi-fi and hairdryer.
Breakfast is based on fair trade products, organic, seasonal, local and Km0. On request we prepare breakfasts for vegans, vegetarians, celiacs.
Surprisingly we organize the "Breakfast with the Commander" our father Com. Antonio Casanova, will tell you legends and anecdotes of our magical island.
In fact, in our B & B not only are your bikes welcome, but we would be happy to offer you a stay in exchange for goods and services needed.
The B & B was born in 2004 from an idea of the brothers Bruno and Salvatore Casanova, managers and owners of the Ghiro. The Casanova family house, during the last century, housed one of the country's tailor's shops. Nonno Bruno, in fact, established the tailor shop on the ground floor, which has now become the current breakfast room and the dwelling on the upper floors.
The building is one of the oldest in the country and its construction dates back to the late 1700s, in the façade you can still see the juniper wood keys bearing witness to ancient methods of construction. The house has been renovated following the green building standards, natural products have been used such as cork panels and insulating linen.
For the interiors, paints have been used that allow the walls to be breathable with relaxing and pleasant colors, made with vegetable raw materials without petrol-derivatives. Our commitment to a house that cares about the environment is confirmed by the use of biological detergents, for energy saving and a constant commitment to waste reduction.
Il Ghiro is located in the main square of Carloforte, in the immediate vicinity of the port and the promenade where you can take pleasant walks to discover the village and its typical "carruggi".
A stone's throw from the museum, monuments and salt pans where you can observe among other birds also the beautiful pink flamingo.
The island of San Pietro offers wonderful free beaches, beautiful cliffs and unique geological features.
In the North-West part of the island it will be possible to observe the marvelous Falco Eleonorae (falco della Regina) which stops in our island from April to October and then returns to Madagascar.

Un piccolo vascello in navigazione nel fantastico mare dell’isola di San Pietro: questa è il profumo iniziale del B&B de il Ghiro, con la differenza che le onde saranno fatte di gente in festa. Lasciatevi trasportare dai flutti della accoglienza Tabarchina di Bruno, Salvatore, Rossella e tutta la famiglia dei proprietari. Gentilissimi eppure riservati e signorili sempre loro e gli amici ristoratori e artisti che vi consigliamo di conoscere. Da non perdere le ottime colazioni del B&B “il Ghiro” con prodotti locali e marmellate fatte in casa e servite in una invidiatissima posizione centrale. Tornerete spesso con la mente a quel posto, ma tanti ci ritornano di anno in anno come fosse ritrovare una parte di se stessi. Noi progettiamo già un fantastico ritorno. Accoglienza disponibilissima e gentilissima. Ottima posizione centrale dove si respira a pieno l'aria Carlofortina. Colazione alternativa e deliziosa con prodotti a km 0. Stanza ok nonostante mancasse il bidet nel bagno. Consigliato.
