Rifugio Sogno di Berdzè

Località Pèradzà - 11012 Cogne - Aosta - ItalyShow location
An authentic mountain refuge at 2,526 meters above sea level near the Gran Paradiso National Park and the Avic Park. The refuge offers healthy cuisine also designed for vegans.

At 2,526 meters above sea level, in the heart of the wild Urtier Valley, lies the Rifugio Sogno di Berdzé, a true natural balcony overlooking the Cogne Valley. Here, the mountains reveal their most authentic side: the refuge is located at the source of the Urtier stream, the same one that feeds the famous Lillaz waterfalls, in a unique setting suspended between the Gran Paradiso National Park and the Mont Avic Park.

Immersed in an unspoiled landscape, the refuge is a strategic stop for hikers and trekkers on extensive routes such as the Alta Via 2 and the Via Alpina. It is a point of passage and meeting, but also a place to slow down and experience the mountains more deeply.

The refuge, opened in 2003 on land historically linked to the Péradzà area and the Sogno family of Cogne, takes its name from the dialect nickname "Berdzé" of the builder and the surname of the owning family: a tribute to the history and identity of the place.

The facility is spacious and welcoming, with 74 beds distributed as follows:
- a 24-bed dormitory
- rooms with 8, 4, and 2 beds

The bathrooms are shared, while hot showers are available for a fee. Each bed is equipped with blankets; sleeping bags are required (available for rent at the refuge).

The refuge has two large indoor dining rooms and a large panoramic outdoor area, ideal for lunches and relaxing al fresco.

The kitchen offers simple yet refined dishes, strongly rooted in the local area and using local ingredients. We pride ourselves on genuine products, wild berry jams, homemade desserts, tarts, bread, and savory specialties with the authentic aroma of the mountains.

The culinary offering is inclusive and attentive to everyone: vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes are available, designed to offer every hiker a safe, nutritious, and regenerating meal after high-altitude activities.

Getting there:
From Lillaz
From the Lillaz parking lot, follow the Alta Via 2 trail (marker 13), which initially ascends through meadows and mountain pastures until entering a larch forest. After the bridge over the Urtier River, the valley opens up into an increasingly wild and spectacular landscape, with pastures, waterfalls, and mountain pastures, all the way to the refuge. Average time: about 3 hours.

From Champorcher
From Champorcher, climb towards Lake Miserin and the Miserin Refuge, then continue towards Fenêtre de Champorcher. From here, a pleasant descent into the Urtier Valley leads to the refuge in about 30–45 minutes. Total time is about 4 hours.

Farm trail (MTB and e-bike)
From the bottom of the Lillaz valley, follow the dirt road that gently ascends the entire valley, passing through mountain pastures, pastures, and panoramic viewpoints such as the Cappella degli Alpini in Crèt. The route is long but regular, also ideal for mountain bikes and e-bikes, up to the Péradzà basin where the refuge is located.
