The jacuzzi is located on rooftop terrace. Whether you are alone or in the company of up to eight people, you will enjoy enchantment of water and a wonderful panoramic view at the same time.
In order to improve environmental quality as well as reduce the costs of disposal of municipal and biodegradable waste (green parts of plants, grass clippings, leaves, twigs, packaging cardboard, paper, waste from the kitchen) Hotel Villa Dvor has built its own composting unit into which air is naturally supplied through the drywall and the mixture is stirred occasionally for proper fermentation. The annual amount of waste that is composted is around 5000 liters. All glass and PET packaging for which the return fee is charged is returned to the supplier and the rest is recycled. In addition, the used oil from the kitchen is recycled. The mixture obtained after the fermentation is transferred to earthworms (Eisenia fetida) beds with where compost processed into vermicompost - top humus. This is how we produce about 2,000 liters of premium humus. Humus enriches the soil and it is used as food in our own garden in the production of vegetables for the hotel.
In cooperation with the Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Split we designed and manufactured heat pump water - water for heating and cooling of the hotel, as well as hot water. We obtained the licence/concession for water operation on the river Cetina. Heat pump consists of two separate circuits. One is used for domestic hot water when cooling system. is not working. The second round is used for space heating and cooling the hotel. When cooling system is in operation, the waste heat is used to heat domestic hot water. This system autonomously produces all the necessary heat for the needs of the hotel. The coefficient of consumed and produced energy is about 1: 5. All rooms in the hotel including the halls have autonomous temperature control, which further saves heat consumption and fan-coil stops automatically as soon as you open the window in a room. All windows were made of thermal insulation glass and the facade and the roof terrace of the hotel are insulated with 8 cm styrodur which further reduces energy loss. Apart from financial benefits for the hotel there is also a significant contribution to the environment protection. It reduces the costs of waste management at the local level and reduces carbon emissions.
In order to rationally exploit drinking water, we have installed toilet tanks with dual-zone flushing of 3 or 6 liters of water per flush. In public toilets we installed sensor taps and in all bathrooms have inbuilt thermostatic bath mixer tap which specify the temperature of water in the bath. Moreover, all the taps have inbuilt Perlati e. that mix water and air and the process uses up to 50% less drinking water, and the feeling of showering is much higher because it gets soft stream and abundant quantity. Shampoos and soaps in the rooms and public toilets are pH-neutral and have the Eco Certification and detergents used in washing machines and dishwashers are biologically degradable. Saving of drinking water is achieved in maintaining the environment of the hotel. All plants in the environment of the hotel are native plant species (sage, lavender, rosemary, broom, olives, different types of perennials) that are much more resistant to local climate conditions (karst area, the lack of water in summer, storm in the winter) and this reduces the consumption of water for watering and feeding humus makes them more durable and resistant.
Energy is saved on heating as well as lights. We have installed lighting fixtures in the hotel that use energy-saving lights. Since 2011, we started exchanging each additional energy saving light which burnt out with LED bulbs which consume up to 7 times less than fluorescent tubes. In order to reduce CO2 emissions and use renewable energy resources we made a project of photovoltaic power plant of 24kW, was put into operation in April 2014. Apart from the photovoltaic power plant of 24kW we have installed three solar collectors with a total output of 5 kW for additional heating of hot water. The hotel has inbuilt a prototype elevator which, when the weight difference between the cabin and weight is more than 130 kg, depending on whether the elevator is going up or down, produces 3.9 kW
