ABOUT THE PLACE

INSULAE are 3 charming studio suites located in a reconstructed stone house in the heart of Komiža old town. With distinct character and modernly furnished, each suite consists of integrated sleeping, lounge and dining area, kitchenette, and a separate bathroom. Queen size bed (160x200cm) and daily sofa /bed if needed, are extremely comfortable. Bed linen and towels are provided as well as free unlimited WI-FI, satellite TV+DVD with a selection of movies. Kitchen is equipped with electric devices and small appliances, bathroom with all essentials you need.
Ideal accommodation for couples, or couples with a young child.
We especially recommend our 2-levels loft, very bright, spacious and airy, with fantastic views of Komiža's rooftops and the shimmering sea on one side and mountains on the other. Perfect nest for couples.

The heart of the house is the traditional courtyard, an outdoor living room with a wine lattice shade. This is a perfect spot to tune into the Mediterranean vibe. Sit back and relax. Grill some fish and sample the wine from the nearby wine cellar. Smell the freshly washed laundry. Listen to the chirping of the crickets, the sound of children playing ball in the narrow alleys and old men’s chatter in local dialect.
Isn't this exactly how you imagined your holiday to be?

INTERACTION WITH GUESTS

As your hosts, we make sure that your stay with us is as comfortable and fulfilling as possible. Whether you want to explore the most remote spots on the island, indulge in local food or find the best secluded beaches, we are here for you. Literally. We live on the ground level of the house INSULAE, so all you need to do is knock at our door and ask. We've spent years exploring the Vis archipelago by sea and land, and we'd be happy to share our discoveries and love for the islands with you.
We hope that we'll have the pleasure and privilege to welcome you soon.

GETTING THERE

From Split to Vis, you take the ferry (2,5 h) or catamaran (1,5 h) and then the regular bus from Vis to Komiža. The bus waits for passengers just in front of the quay when the ferry or catamaran lands and the distance across the island takes about 20 minutes. From the bus station in Komiža, you have a 5 minutes walk to the house.

WHEN TO COME

Warm, but a few degrees colder than the mainland, Komiža is a perfect holiday spot during the summer months. In addition to the sea and sun, you can enjoy a varied cultural program with concerts and open air cinema screenings happening almost every day.
However, if you crave real tranquility, deserted beaches and balmy warm weather, consider coming in May/ June or September/ October. The swimming season in Komiža lasts six months, from May to October, and that’s exactly when Komiža, calm, friendly and relaxed, shines in its full splendor. Spring is ideal for hikers who can explore many beautiful trails around the island and pick some wild asparagus too. Even winter has its charm. It's the season when the scent of ripening oranges and lemons fills the air and you can witness the most spectacular winter sunsets in Komiža. Every year on December 6 a wooden boat is ritually burned as an offering to St. Nicholas, Komiža’s patron saint and protector of seamen, sailors, fishermen and travelers. Days spent in revelries bring Komiža out of hibernation mode.

ABOUT THE VIS ARCHIPELAGO

Protected natural areas of the Vis Archipelago encompass the island of Vis and the surrounding islands of Biševo, Sveti Andrija, Brusnik, Jabuka and Palagruža. An application for the Vis Archipelago to become a protected UNESCO geopark has been made with UNESCO by the Croatian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy.
We are proud to be involved in the project as an official partner!
The establishment of the Geopark Vis Archipelago will contribute primarily to raising awareness of the importance of protecting geological and geomorphological heritage and recognizing geotourism as a unique tourist offer.

Staying in Komiza at the Insulae apartments was wonderful. We had the duplex at the top and had incredible views of the sea and nearby islands. Being able to watch the sunrise and sunset from up top along with the sailboats and seagulls painting the landscape.
The kitchenette was just the right size and we could cook most of our meals there, including frying up som local fish.
Everything was clean and neat. We could open up the windows to get a breeze or use the fan. There's even AC for emergency heat waves.
Sanja was very welcoming and kind. She provided us with beach towels, advice on what to do in Komiza and around, and even some vegetables and herbs from her garden. Her cat and dog were also very sweet.
Finally there was also internet which was useful as we needed to do some work while on the island.
We had a very nice time in Komiza and would recommend the apartments highly.

It has been noticed: Organic or Local Food, Ecological cleaning products, Car-free accessibility.
