Happy Spparow welcomes you to the Renaissance city of Karlovac. It is a city with 4 rivers flowing through it and abundant in greenery, parks and beautiful promenades and the star-shaped old town.
It is located in the very heart of Croatia, connects coastal and continental parts, making it an ideal base for exploring our beautiful country or a perfect stop to „recharge your batteries“ on a long journey.
We are your hosts, Mirela and Vlado, and now we will tell you a story...
... once upon a time, our apartment was a fruit and winter pantry, a kitchenette and a garage. And then one day we decided to turn this space into a beautiful and happy place for all of you :)
Together we have done about 95% of all construction work, handmade or restored a significant part of the furniture.
So, almost everything you see in the apartment is the work of our hands. And it is significant to note that in the construction process we used a lot of old and unused things and thus breathed new life and purpose into them. With great love and teamwork, the apartment was designed and built in a way that emphasizes sustainability and great respect for the environment and our guests.
Our apartment is located in a lovely, peaceful street that has a pretty mix of huge apartment buildings with regular tree-lined avenues on one side and family homes on the other, with both maintained and natural vegetation and wildlife surrounding them.
If you need parking, we have private parking always available for our guests.
In your private yard, protected from view with orchards, bee-loving flowers and plants, you will enjoy the chirping of various species of birds, while drinking your afternoon tea or morning coffee on a bench in the garden.
In our garden there are different types of decorative flowers, honey plants and fruit trees (cherries, sour cherries, apples, pears ...), but also several species of birds.
But the Sparrow is definitely the King of our colorful garden, more precisely a large family of sparrows live in our garden, for years now. In their honor, our apartment is named Happy Sparrow.
Facilities located within a 5 – 15 minutes walking distance:
3 children's playgrounds, 1 restaurant and 2 pizzerias, 2 cafés - and all within a radius of less than 350 m.
Also in the immediate vicinity we have a large supermarket, and three small shops with basic groceries.
The Korana River with a beautiful promenade surrounded by parks and a beautiful beach Foginovo (Foginovo is the first registered river bathing beach in Croatia).
Opposite the beach, when you cross the picturesque wooden bridge, there is the only exclusively freshwater aquarium in Europe, Aquatika.
Bus and train station – 15 minutes walking distance
Almost all bus lines that go from the continental part of Croatia to the seaside and vice versa pass through Karlovac, and the railway connection is also very good.
Distance from Karlovac to Zagreb airport 64km – 45 min by car
Distance from Karlovac to Rijeka airport 114km – 1h 20 min by car
