Dogs - Two family friendly huskies live on the property. They live outside of the house fence, but if you love dogs, feel free to make friends with them. They would happily make themselves at home with you. Garden - You are welcome to enjoy any fruit, vegetable or herb in season. We have 5 avocado trees, tons of loquat trees, peach trees, lime trees and more. We also have berries of different types, all sorts of herbs and a selection of vegetables. Recycling & Waste Management- we strive to maintain a Zero Waste home and so all waste if separated to be recycled or repurposed or composted. Tierra & Lava - the workspaces and office of Tierra & Lava (natural cosmetics social enterprise company) are also housed on the property close to the main gate. You are welcome to pop in and see how it is all done. Property Maintenance - we have someone who comes onto the property every afternoon to do general maintenance and gardening.

The neighborhood
Lucy’s home is located in San Cristóbal El Alto, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala.
San Cristobal el Alto is home to a 'nacimiento' or water source which feeds the community pilas. You can hike this scenic trail on your own or with a local coop guide. The village is also known as the home of Tierra & Lava (creator of natural cosmetics - the workshop is right on our property), tradtiional wooden toy makers, ceramic workshops, organic coffee, local fruit jams and nispero wooden decor. There is a restaurant at the entrance of the village with stunning views and a typical food restaurant that is open at the weekends. There are also plenty of small local shops for essential food items. For full shopping, you will need to go to the market or supermarkets in Antigua.
Getting around
There is a local bus that goes to Antigua and back 3 times per day. There are also shuttles provided by the restaurant that go at regular intervals (but not scheduled) and Uber is now a reasonably priced and easy alternative to getting around. If you like cycling up and down hills, then a bike is also an option.
