Kalyvitis is located in the southeastern part of Crete. It is an idyllic place in the middle of the olive groves surrounded by mountains with fragrant pine trees. Here, you are in 'green nature' but at the same time close to the sea with its secluded coves (a 5 minutes drive).

We (Heidi and Manu) live here largely self-sufficiently. A lifestyle that has brought us back to basics and connection with nature. To share this experience, we rent out two stone cottages and the stone house, all with a beautiful view over the green valley. They are built of local natural stone and they are, with the help of solar panels and batteries, 100% self-sufficient in electricity. The total energy that Kalyvitis generates with this, compensates the CO2 emissions of the flights of our guests. Possible flight shame is therefore completely unnecessary :-)

The Kalyvitis concept consists of more than just renting out the cottages and the house. Our need to really know what we eat and where it comes from led to us focusing more and more on growing and producing our own food. In addition to our olive oil, we also make a number of products on a very small scale for the immediate area (goat cheese, eggs, bread, honey). And of course, we also like to let our guests at Kalyvitis taste!

Our extra virgin olive oil comes from our own olive groves. We maintain and harvest ourselves the total of 500 olive trees. The entire process (from olive on the tree to oil in the can) is also entirely in our own hands. So we can guarantee that our olive oil is pure and is never mixed with other oils. Every year, immediately after harvesting, we sell the entire production and deliver the olive oil directly to our customers' homes.

The South East is the unspoilt, rugged, authentic part of Crete. Although the area has little tourism , it is an extremely fascinating region with much to discover.
We are happy to explain where you can find the most beautiful hiking trails (Orino gorge, Pefki gorge, Pervolakia gorge, Sarakino gorge) , the nicest beaches and the tastiest addresses . But of course we like to provide any other information you like.
