Rooms in quiet house with garden in London E17
Rooms in warm, friendly house with changing population of people of all ages, genders and ethnicities all trying to tread lightly on the planet. We have a garden and residents often help with various community projects on our local allotment garden.
Julia has lived here for over 20 years with a musician husband, Ian, who recently died, shortly after celebrating his 95th birthday. We have accommodated a changing household including extended family, lodgers, friends and people coming through HelpX and WWoof to help on the allotment. We were among the first people in this area to use airbnb but stopped that when airbnb started renting properties in illegally occupied Palestinian land. Currently, we only want to offer short lets while Julia adjusts to a new stage of life after spending the past two years caring for Ian as he slowly lost his sight and independence. We have a ground floor room which was Ian's music room, and until we decide what to do with it, musicians are welcome to play there as it has no party wall to disturb our neighbours! Walthamstow is a vibrant, culturally diverse neighbourhood with excellent transport links to both central London and Epping Forest.

House Rules
House rules are negotiated and designed to ensure that everyone living in this house treats each other with kindness and respect for personal boundaries. I have lived in this comfortable 5 bedroomed house for over 20 years, mostly with my musician husband and a changing population of lodgers and short-term guests, some of whom have come through HelpX or WWoof to help on my allotment, where I'm currently supporting various community and sustainability projects. My husband died recently and I don't want to commit to long-term arrangements while I consider how I want to live from now. So I only want to offer short-term lets but I will not use airbnb or other platforms that are renting properties in Isreali-occupied Palestine. Rental income will enable me to pay bills and invest in solar panels and energy-saving measures.
