The nearest big town with full services is Sourdeval, which is a few minutes north. Although a relatively small town, it is known a 'Village of Flowers' in summertime and has all services. There is a full golf course in Vire.
We do our grocery shopping at the supermarket on the northern outskirts of Mortain, which is about 3kms south of us and easily accessible. Vire has a much larger shopping centre, and has a great historic monument at it centre.
