dream eco-house at the seaside in Morgat, Brittany

Menez Kador - 29160 Crozon - Finistère - France
dream eco-house with big flowering garden and vegetable garden between the sea and its sandy beaches and the amazing Kador pinewood forest.

Hello there, stranger!

Having just read our description about our house and its emplacement, I thought I should clarify two things:

1. We are not working for the marketing department of the Crozon peninsula!
2. We are not desperate to rent our house to anybody!

We are just really, really enthusiastic about our house and the peninsula it is located on! And as we are often abroad, we thought it would be a pity if other friendly, like-minded people - like you? - would not be able to benefit from it!

Ok, so that's that, now for the detailed description ;-)

If you are into nature, ever changing landscapes, the rough seaside, the salty breeze, but also cozy, warm and mild bays with crystal clear water, dolphins, pinewood forests, ancient history, grottos, legends, druids, geological highlights, amazing food from even more amazing farmers, you will definitely love the magnificent Crozon peninsula in southern Finistère in Brittany France!

Our house is located on that peninsula in the outskirts of the fishing harbour of Morgat - afoot you are 5 minutes away from the first two amazing beaches (one ranked as one of the 11 most beautiful beaches on this planet by The Guardian!), five minutes afoot away from the bars and restaurants and stores and five minutes afoot away from the famous and amazing GR34 hiking trail - for our personal taste the perfect place on the Crozon peninsula!

You do not need your car as you can walk to many many places and there are bike rentals in Morgat if you feel like discovering more of the peninsula (which we highly recommend!!!)

Our house is located on a 3000m2 terrain in the outskirts of "forêt du Kador", an amazing pinewood forest, stretching along a steep coast (with many coves to swim). It is a very quiet neighborhood with nature surrounding you and deer and bats passing by.

We (a family of soon four) are highly into plants in all it forms - besides starting to transform a part of the terrain into a forest garden, we have many different flowers, many different edible plants and a vegetable garden we share with a dear friend of ours from the peninsula (she actually is by far the best crêpière (crêpe-maker) of the peninsula!!!). We also started creating many places and hideouts for sunbathing, reading books, hanging out - so you will not get bored ;-)

Our house itself has actually been two houses in the beginning! It were two relatively soulless rental houses from the 80ies that were "sticked together" back-to-back. We united them and spent the last 5 years renovating our house the most ecological way possible - only eco-materials, most of the from the area, etc. We have to admit that we are pretty proud of the outcome (and have not heard different from guests so far!)

Our house, which is called kerland by the way, now is a very, very lofty 200m2 house - the ground floor being on big space with entrance, huge living kitchen and enormous living room with a big fireplace at its center.

We do have a piano and a drum kit, many broad and card games, interesting books and a solid DVD arthouse collection.

kerland offers three master bedrooms, one with its own bathroom and access to one of the two terrases, the other two sharing a big bathroom. There is another toilet and a big children's area with the possiblity for 2-4 childre to sleep (we do have two pirate beds, a baby bed), as well as two more highly comfortable sofa beds.

As we really love cooking, you will find everything you need in our fully equipped kitchen, but no mircowave ;-( We do have a store cupboard that contains many useful ingredients - please feel free to serve yourself, but please to also replace the stuff you ate!

We do have a rainwater cistern if you feel like watering the plants, an outdoor shower, an outdoor eco-toilet, as well as an amazing pirate platform (that works quiet well as a place for a sundowner, too). And if you simply want to hang out, use one of the two terraces (south-east and south-west).

Further more, if you want to get some "insider" information, we do have many friends on site (from farmers to distiller to fish farmer to geologists to amazing vegetarian cooks, etc) - information, we are more than happy to share with you!!!

If you are into sports, fasten your seat belts - an eldorado for wind-, kite-, wave-surfer alike, you can do scuba-diving, canoeing and sailing as for watersports. The highly divers landscape with its elevation profile can be really challenging by bike. The hiking trails are rightly famous. There is a skate park, a labyrinth, a climbing park and one of France's most famous and scenic climbing spot. If you are not into sports, there are some museum, many chappels and churches and monasteries, old druids houses, standing stones, etc.

So, by now, the last big remaining question for you should be when to visit the Crozon peninsula, right? That's a tough nut! Seriously, each season is dream season, for us! Winter is fairly mild, splendidly empty, and sometimes really windy; spring is the paradise of blossoms and even milder temperatures; summer is the warmest, autumn is a blaze of color. You should start with the season you cherish the most and than we are pretty sure you will want to come back to enjoy the other seasons, too!
