At the latest in the sauna in the shepherd's wagon with beneficial organic infusion, every guest leaves the stress of everyday life behind and can relax. If you feel like relaxing after the sauna, you can relax in the herb garden with nice seating and sun loungers. A large selection of organic teas is available at the tea station in the hotel and you can also make a hot water bottle for cold feet.
When you take a break at Okelmann’s, there’s definitely no hunger. The day begins with a delicious country breakfast in the Heimatliebe café, which offers a wide selection. Crispy wood-fired bread and rolls, homemade spreads and salads, dairy products as well as sausage and cheese specialties from regional producers, smoothies and coffee in organic quality - simply everything you could wish for in the morning.
During the day the “Café Heimatliebe” offers homemade cakes, cupcakes, cake lollipops, cookies and macarons. Those who prefer hearty dishes can choose from quiches, sandwiches and changing soups. There is also a small farm shop connected to the café, where you can buy organic delicacies, homemade jams and handmade products from the region.
In the evening, guests let themselves be pampered in the restaurant. The cuisine is traditionally North German, regional, as organic as possible and inspired by modern influences. There are many meat dishes from regional producers on the menu, but also freshwater fish such as the char. Vegetarian specialties include Hohenmoor organic goat cream cheese on a bed of lettuce or Okelmann’s burger with homemade sweet potato patty. As a dessert, white chocolate cheesecake with hot organic raspberries or farm ice cream in various varieties are enticing.
Special intolerances, allergies and special requests (such as vegan food) can be taken into account after prior consultation with the kitchen.
Sustainability and the well-being of guests are equally part of the philosophy at Okelmann’s. Natural materials, lots of light and subtle colors ensure environmental friendliness and a pleasant atmosphere in the house. The bed linen made in Germany is made from organic cotton. Upon request, there are cushions from “Grüne Erde” - optionally filled with kapok (plant down), sheep's wool or pine chips. Ecologically degradable products are used for cleaning and washing, and linen and towels are only changed as needed and in consultation with the guest.
Many of the products processed in the kitchen come from suppliers and farms in the area and are partly produced according to organic guidelines. This applies to eggs, cheese and other dairy products, meat, fish as well as fruits and vegetables. The kitchen team attaches great importance to fresh, seasonal and regional food. Revitalized, vitalized Grander water is used in all guest rooms and everywhere in the house.
A photovoltaic system and a combined heat and power plant are used for the energy supply. At the same time, energy saving lamps and underfloor heating keep consumption as low as possible.
So that the car can stop at times, Okelmann’s supports its guests with environmentally friendly mobility on site. Bicycles and e-bikes can be organized upon prior reservation. The team is always available to help with excursion tips and information about the area. If you want to start the day with sun salutations or want to relax with a meditation, you can borrow a yoga mat.
