Trips to the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen or Stein am Rhein (where the Bodensee in the Rhine passes) or Mainau Island are popular activities. And of course there is in the beautiful countryside plenty of opportunities for hiking, swimming, boat rides, and fishing. On request, we are happy to offer pony rides on our own terrain safe horses!
The Midsummer farm in 1939 (together with our neighboring farm) founded and is now being continued in the 3rd generation of Heiner and Rosa Bucheli with their 4 children.
From once 12.5 ha land area there are now has become 80 ha. Besides fodder for our farm animals we grow potatoes and various cereal varieties for our customers. In 1979, when the big playpen was built, we added to the dairy herd of a dozen to 40 cows. The fruit production has existed for years (mainly apples and pears) is our home-grown product range even more versatile for a piece.
1990 Hof was converted from conventional to biodynamic and almost at the same time the farm shop was launched - then still a small shop in a basement room of the house.
Since Summer 2012, we are now a natural land - operation, no operation demeter more.
Thus, in addition to agriculture the farm shop has developed as a second mainstay for the Midsummer-Hof. Besides, we are also involved in various landscape management and nature conservation projects.
In addition, we have holidays, various accommodations and other attractions at the farm for cyclists and other tourists.
Please note that they can not bring dogs - because unfortunately our two dogs are not .. with strange dogs
Einstein offered this love nest for many years a number of bee colonies a home before he came to us and was transformed into a nostalgic caravan.

Nice place and nice welcoming. We managed to cook without any problem.
It has been noticed: Organic or Local Food, Green building, Energy saving lights, Ecological cleaning products, More than 80% waste recycling.

Wonderful organic working dairy farm, run by a family of farmers. Plenty of things to do around the farm for kids, like helping feed the cows, riding a horse, playing with the very friendly farm dogs. Excellent swimming in the Rhine (with a free public toddlers pool) just a short walk away. A camp fire place with grill is provided.
The small organic shop on the farm (Hofladen) serves all your basic needs and the host’s mother even bakes (excellent!) fresh bread twice a week.
Toilets and showers are quite basic but functional and kept clean.
As this is a working farm, expect three things:
1. Your hosts are working. They’re very available for questions and help, but there are always things to do around the farm. Also, smells and noises are part of the charm
2. You and your kids get free access to all of the farm. It is quite safe, as long as you take responsibility for your and your kids’ safety what with all the machines and animals
3. It’s a dairy farm, which means there will be flies
The municipality rents out bikes in the nearby village. Unfortunately no child seats or trailers are available, so we couldn’t actually use them. No commercial bike rental is available in the village.
