Mogambo Ecolodge
Ecolodge accommodation (50m2) in a privately-owned botanical garden of 20,5 hectares with more than 3,000 different plant- and treespecies.
In October 2024 the first ecolodge accommodation in Mogambo opened its doors to visitors. The ecolodge is 50m2, it is completely off-grid and has a solar boiler and it is situated in Mogambo, a privately owned botanical garden. As Ethnobotanists and Dendrologists, the Founders of Mogambo collected many different plant samples from all over Colombia, including the Amazon region, the Caribbean and other counties in Latin America and planted these samples in their own garden, transforming it into a botanical garden known today as Mogambo Sendero Ambiental. The total amounts of plants are estimated around 40,000 with more than 3,000 different plant species. Part of Mogambo contains a biological coffee plantation which is completely organically managed and is recognized with a Certificate of Origin from Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia, the Colombian Coffee Association. On wild-sourced products and agroforestry, Mogambo cultivates, produces and sells plant products, such as fruits, leaves, seeds, flowers and roots to phyto-pharmaceutical laboratories and special cuisine restaurants.
Mogambo is situated in the so called Eastern Andean Mountain range (Cordillera Central) in
Colombia. From the central bus station in Bogotá (Terminal de Transportes de Bogota “El Salitre”) it is
an 82 km bus ride (around 3 hours) to the closest neighboring town Viotá in the Cundinamarca
province. A 12 kilometers road connects Mogambo to Viotá and private companies offer 4x4 car
rides from Viotá to Mogambo. The total area of Mogambo consists of 20,5 hectares and it is located
at between 1,200 and 1,300 meters above sea level. The average temperatures are around 25°
Celsius (77° Fahrenheit) in the day and around 15° Celsius (59° Fahrenheit) at night. The rainy
seasons occur from March to June and from October to December. We offer airport pick-up services and if you want to come by your own transportation we strongly recommend you travel to Mogambo with a 4x4 transportation vehicle.
