Jungle Retreat next to Large Beautiful River in

DESCRIPTION SELVATORIUM

The farm spans 14 hectares with an area next to the Palomino River where several houses are located, forming a small community. The river is 40 meters wide and completely clean. There are parts so deep that the bottom cannot be touched and others that are like children's pools.
The only way to reach Selvatorium is by walking through beautiful mountains or with a mule or horse. It's a 60-minute walk from Palomino or 40 minutes from the last point accessible by motorcycle. We provide a mule and guide to carry and bring down your luggage and food.
From February to June and August to November, an educational program for children operates at Selvatorium. The program runs from 8 am to 12 pm, Monday to Friday. The classroom is located near to their dormitory. If you have children between 7 and 11 years old, they may participate in the classes.
The place is a marvel for those who want to be in the midst of nature. Although we are only an hour's walk from the road, the feeling at Selvatorium is very different because we are located between Kogi and Arhuaco territory. We have lived with our children in Selvatorium for the past 7 years without experiencing any serious accidents, but it is important for our visitors to understand that they will be far from the nearest police station, store, and health post. It is the jungle and a sacred place that demands people to enter with respect and a good level of maturity.
In Selvatorium, there are 5 small single-story houses with palm roofs. The idea behind constructing these houses was to build them similarly to how our neighbors, the Kogi and Arhuacos, build, using materials available on the farm. However, we added some details that city dwellers might need (kitchen, gas, sink, etc.).
We offer two private spaces for you:
1. A palm-thatched hut (25m2) with a dirt floor overlooking the river. In this hut, there's a kitchen, dining area, workspace, and a closet. There are no walls or locking doors; it has electric light (solar), wifi, and a place to make a fire in the center. There's no refrigerator. This place will serve as your living room and/or office. For families, it's also possible to sleep in this hut (there's a bed that can be opened), so there are two sleeping spaces.

2. The Nutria palm-thatched hut in front of the river with wooden floors and walls, a double bed, shelves, and a closet with a key, private bathroom, and terrace.

If you come with children, we will make available an additional room, that has access to a an additional bathroom and shower (30 meters away). For an additional cost your children can study in our school with 15 other Kogui and Arhauco children (during the 10 months of the year that the school open)

Selvatorium also has a flat area near the river for gymnastics, yoga, dance, mini-football, etc., and a hall or workshop that you can use when it's not needed for Selvatorium school activities.
We are directly next to the Palomino River, and upon your arrival, we'll show you the nearby river beaches.
In one of the houses live Anderson and Mitzi, who coordinate our school and will help coordinate your arrival. Across a stream, the Arregoces family and Carmen live, and they will also be looking out for you. There's another palm-thatched hut that is also rented out to visitors.
Anderson and Mitzi, or Arregoces and Pedro, will be there to help you get settled. They can also assist you in coordinating the purchase of food and gas (brought in by mule). We don't have a permanent cleaning service, so you'll need to clean up after yourselves.
If you don't want to cook all the time, it's possible that our neighbor Maria can sell you food at her house for lunch; you can arrange this directly with her.
Some of the teenage neighbors can offer guiding services if you want to go hiking and explore other nearby rivers or mountains.

There's an absolutely beautiful beach a 15-minute walk from our house, at the foot of the Seywiaka village, belonging to the Kogui indigenous people.
We always invite our friends and guests to make an offering to the local nature upon arriving at Ensueño; it's an indigenous tradition that we respect since we are in a sacred spiritual territory.
The garbage truck doesn't reach Selvatorium, so we have a strict waste management protocol that you'll need to follow.
There are 2 dogs, a cat, and a bird at Selvatorium; you'll have to coexist with them to a greater or lesser extent depending on your preference.
It's the jungle, so there are spiders, scorpions, snakes, etc. If you enjoy hiking in the mountains, we recommend buying rubber boots in the town of Palomino.
