The accommodation is in a typical Ticino chalet from the late 19th century, located in the Swiss Alps at an altitude of 1,400 meters above sea level. Just 300 meters from the Ritom funicular stop, 10 meters from the bus stop, and 7 minutes from the Quinto highway exit, the accommodation is an excellent solution for backpackers, globetrotters, mountaineers, skiers, mountain and nature lovers, bikers, trekkers, and more. We are passionate about travel and have started sharing some spaces in the house as a hobby. So, don't expect to be in a 5-star hotel. The chalet is cozy but also vintage and a bit spartan (so if you decide to book, don't complain about that) :)
My girlfriend and I are very welcoming people and will be happy to make your stay enjoyable.
The chalet offers:
- 2 private double bedrooms with shared bathrooms for up to 2 people;
- 1 private apartment for up to 4 people with an eat-in kitchen, a double bedroom with a queen-size bed, a living room with a sofa bed, and a private bathroom;
- 1 or 2 low-cost ECO beds in our double bedroom, with a shared bathroom (N.B.: This is an ECO and low-cost solution for both guests and hosts. The bedroom and bed are shared with us). Those who choose this budget option know they won't have much privacy. If that's not to your liking, this isn't the accommodation for you.
Because it's a historic building, the ceilings are between 185 and 195 cm high, and there are also exposed beams. Therefore, the accommodation may be uncomfortable for guests taller than 180 cm.
Prices include utilities, water, and clean towels.
Enjoy the fresh air and tranquility of the mountains, along with breathtaking views and nature trails. Ideal for both summer and winter, this low-cost solution is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's the perfect place to relax, explore unspoiled forests, take long, healthy mountain hikes, or enjoy the nearby ski slopes of Airolo, Carì, Prato Leventina, and Andermatt Sedrun.
The low-cost ECO bed in our double bedroom is located on the first floor of our apartment, so the two bathrooms are shared. Guests also have access to the kitchen, which can be used to prepare breakfast between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. and other ready-to-eat meals.
The area is served year-round by bus (the stop is 10 meters from the apartment) and from May to October by the Ritom funicular (the station is 300 meters from the apartment). We recommend checking the Swiss Federal Railways (FFS SBB) website for schedules. We will send you all the check-in instructions after confirming your booking.
There are three roads to access Altanca, but in winter, when it snows, the one through Madrano and Brugnasco isn't cleaned! So if you're visiting in the winter, we recommend taking the road from Piotta or the one from Varenzo/Deggio: both are cleaned regularly.
We have a lot of requests and other solutions to manage. If we're not super responsive, please forgive us and we apologize, but given the high demand, we can't always accommodate those who request the low-cost ECO bed.
Our house has a maximum number of beds that can be rented. Sometimes, when you search, they may still appear available, but in reality, they aren't. However, we always try to respond to requests as quickly as possible!
The idea of budget beds in rooms and shared beds was born from the desire to promote sustainable tourism, both economically and ecologically. We also love meeting new people and sharing our space; for us, it's fun and enjoyable.
With this solution, optimizing space, cleaning, and the number of beds available allows us to keep our prices very low and our guests to save money. Regarding communications, we can communicate via an app.
Either my girlfriend or I welcome you, depending on who is present. We travel frequently for work, especially her, but usually at least one of us is home. If neither of us can welcome you personally, self-check-in instructions will be provided before your arrival.
We also offer our guests:
- Regional wines and local craft beers;
- Massage and foot reflexology services (we are both certified massage therapists).
We are extremely easy-going, friendly, and open-minded. We are accustomed to traveling and sharing space with other people, aware that living together requires mutual respect and tolerance.
If you're looking for a positive, informal, and multicultural environment, a clean room, and a comfortable bed (even if shared) to sleep in at a very low price, then YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE :)
Staying with us often means meeting and sharing spaces with cheerful, positive, and interesting people of all nationalities.
The "low-cost ECO bed" option doesn't offer privacy, so it's suitable for open-minded travelers accustomed to sleeping in hostels, tents, and shared spaces, and sharing a bed and room with other people.
If you're looking for privacy and aren't used to sharing a bed with other people, this is NOT the solution for you.
If you're looking for luxury, this is NOT the solution for you.
The bed in our double room is very comfortable, with an excellent mattress and 170 cm wide, so three of us can sleep quite comfortably. When we're both at home, we only book one place, and the guest will share the room and bed with the two of us.
When one of us is away, it's possible to book two beds, in which case the two guests share a bed with one of us hosts.
Sometimes we're both away, in which case a maximum of two people can use the double bed.
The bathroom on the first floor is for guest use only. The bathroom on the ground floor has a tub/shower approximately 1.60 meters high.
Important: The rooms do not have keys and cannot be locked. We recommend keeping your valuables with you; we assume no responsibility for the loss of any guest's items, clothing, or valuables.
The shared kitchen can be used from 9:00 to 10:00 and from 21:00 to 22:00 only to heat food and/or consume prepared meals.
Cooking elaborate meals for lunch and dinner is not permitted. Dishes must be washed and put away after use.
Outside of breakfast and dinner hours, guests can use the kitchen as a communal space, stopping there for a coffee or to work on their computer.
The tourist tax is payable separately at check-in and amounts to CHF 3.25 per person per night.

La camera si condivide in 3: normalmente si divide la camera ed il letto con noi due, quando uno dei due è assente i posti letto prenotabili sono due.
