Our place is GREAT for reconnecting with the WILD nature!
Vukov konak is an old wooden house with a bohemian vibe! We're located 18 km from Sarajevo, in a rural village, at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level.
In our area the forests, meadows, and mountainsides stretch for kilometres on end. Nature provides us with herbs, mushrooms, and other edible plants. Wild animals love it up here too, there are even wolves and bears, but more commonly birds, deer, foxes, and wild boars, for example.
The village is pretty old school when it comes to livelihood and lifestyle: There are cows and sheep grazing freely all around, and high hay stacks dot the scenery at the end of summer. Many of our neighbours would be happy to have traditional Bosnian coffees and rakijas with you!
We have a restaurant (offering all meals, 'homemade' Bosnian dishes) and a Finnish sauna. We focus on cooking from local and wild ingredients, and we purchase and produce as much as we can locally. (All 3 guest rooms are with shared bathrooms.)
Vukov konak is run by a Finnish-Bosnian family with rewilding and permaculture aspirations – and we're joined by a wonderful bunch of international volunteers. Our two children are homeschooled and we have quite a few animals, too!
