Eco Shelter is for those who don't mind mixing it with the birds and the bees. Located in the South West of Western Australia and in one of the few biodiversity hot spots on the planet, Eco Shelter helps our guest's reconnect with Mother Nature.

Located in the South West of Western Australia (WA), high in the Darling Scarp, in one of the few Biodiversity Hot Spots on the planet, on the edge of picturesque Ferguson Valley, sits Eco Shelter.

Built using recycled materials to withstand (due to climate change) bushfires, cyclones and storms, Eco Shelter is for the serious nature lover including those wanting to leave the city behind for a couple of days.

Surrounded by ancient jarrah and marri forest, teaming with wildflowers & wildlife, Eco Shelter sits on National Trust covenanted land and within walking distance to Wellington National Park.

Operating on a stand-alone-power-system using solar panels (12v), Eco Shelter can sleep up to 6 people. A family would be well suited or 2 couples or singles.

Sleeping arrangements comprise of 2 double beds; one located upstairs (mezzanine); and one located in the common area downstairs. A spare fold-down double (futon) bed is also available for separate sleeping.

Self contained amenities include: lighting, DVD, CD, fridge, hot and cold running water, cooking (gas) facilities, pot-belly-stove (during winter), firewood, fan, cosy lounge, eco-toilet/shower/bath (outside) including a library of resources and books to help guide the visitor into the natural wonders of the jarrah/marri forest of WA.

Internet/phone reception is available; however 24hr reception is not guaranteed. Wi Fi is not available.

Unfortunately, due to Eco Shelter’s isolation, access is by 4 Wheel Drive only; however we can arrange to pick you (and your personal items) up at a nearby point and drive you (5 minutes) to your hideaway and return you to your vehicle after your stay (at no extra cost).

Note: Children are welcome, but please be aware there are numerous hazards, such as venomous snakes, biting insects and an unfenced dam.

Eco Shelter tariffs (includes guided walk):

2 nights (minimum) stay:
$200 (1/2 people)
$50 per extra person

3 nights:
$300 (2 people)
$50 per extra person

Please note: A 50% confirmation booking fee is required no later than 48hrs before your arrival. Tariffs, conditions and information are as from Jan 2018 and maybe subject to change.

Money spent staying at Eco Shelter goes towards conservation, eco-education and bushland rehabilitation.

Weekly tariffs are available by negotiation including for student (small) groups for eco- education, citizen science/research and bird watchers.

Check in time no later than mid-day and check out time no later than 2pm.

A guided tour is included in the tariff: experience Aboriginal connection to the boodjara (land), bushtucker, wildlife and wildflowers (in season), bird watching and early settler heritage/history. Nearby ‘Kaya Track’ is a self-guided 2 hour walk. Terrain: steep and requires some level of fitness.
Take: walk-stick (provided), hat, camera, binoculars, water, mobile phone and walking shoes/boots.
